Woman Took Her Dog To Vet For An Ear Infection And Soon Learned That The Problem Was Something Else

Just as owning a pet brings with it many joys, it also brings many challenges. In addition to providing food, water, and other necessities to your beloved furry pal, it is also necessary to maintain its health.

Unfortunately, it is not an easy task because we often can not know precisely what is wrong with our pet because he is not able to verbally communicate his issues.

This is a real problem, best shown by the case of a dog from Miami, Florida, who was not feeling well for a while, and her owner couldn’t figure out what was bothering her.

After a wrong diagnosis, she took her to the vet, who was only able to detect the problem after two weeks of tests.

Surprising Diagnosis

A little Shih Tzu named Juniper has always been a cute and cheerful dog who brought joy to her family in Miami, Florida. Unfortunately, her owner, Kayla Valdes, suddenly began to notice that her furry pet was not the same as before.

In the beginning, Kayla thought she was suffering from an ear infection, but that was soon ruled out. After that, she decided to take Juniper to the veterinarian, who immediately offered to run an allergy test by taking a blood sample from the dog.

Of course, Kayla accepted that, but she had to wait two weeks for the results to come. When the results finally arrived, Kayla was surprised and even a little shocked.

Namely, her little doggo was allergic to fish, peanuts, and turkey – all the foods with which Kayla has dominantly fed her so far. Because of this, Kayla felt guilty herself, which she confirmed in the caption of the TikTok clip she posted via her account, @junietheshihtzu.

“I feel like i failed as a dog mom,” she wrote at the beginning of the clip caption.

However, she continued the second part in a positive tone, stressing that she is “so glad that [Juniper] is now eating food she can have!”

Regardless of the fact that it took her a little longer, Kayla reacted correctly in the end and showed that she is a good and responsible owner after all.

Interesting Comments

This TikTok clip quickly attracted a lot of attention. There were numerous reactions, and most of the comments were about other owners’ experiences with their dogs’ allergies.

We decided to highlight some of them.

“My dog is similar. Dudes allergic to everything,” one user wrote.

“my dog is allergic to ground beef and sweet potatoes, learned the hard way for both,” another added.

And the third quipped: “I switched my dog to hydrolyzed food and it changed her life!”

Although this case had its happy ending, sometimes things can get more complicated and even lead to the worst. That’s why it is extremely important to know more about dog allergies, especially about the signs of it.

And, did you know that some plants can be toxic to dogs, too?
