Every pup just wants a chance to live a normal life, and it’s our duty to give them that. Even if we can’t do everything ourselves, the least we can do to help is call for rescuers.
This alone will do enough, as it means that the pup will go into a safe place where he can rest and recuperate until some kind family comes to adopt him.
It might seem like this is not much, but you are giving a sweet pup the chance to change his life and help him meet someone special. That’s not nothing.
A good example of what I am talking about would be this woman from Texas who found a pup on the streets eating garbage, so she went to his rescue.
She Was Horrified
After witnessing this horrifying sight, the kind woman approached the starving dog and tried to help. He looked really malnourished and he had many skin problems.
It was really hard to tell how long he had been on his own. However, judging from the severity of his skin problems and malnourishment, it could have been weeks.
The poor pup was so hungry that he had to go through trash to find anything that was edible. It’s incredibly heartbreaking to see that.
Nevertheless, it looked like things were finally starting to look better for him because there was finally someone willing to help him.
She wasn’t sure how to approach this rescue because she had no way of knowing if he was a stray or just an abandoned dog.
So, she tried to place a leash on him and she noticed that he did not resist at all, which was surprising. Then, he started leading her.
That was an even bigger surprise, but it confirmed one thing. This pup likely belonged to someone and was cruelly abandoned.
So, she took him back to the car and she noticed that he immediately made himself comfortable inside. I can’t imagine why someone would abandon this dog.
Freddy’s New Hope
Now, it was almost certain that he had an owner before. The kind woman took him to the shelter in Texas and surrendered him.
She had hoped that these people would do their best to care for him, but she had no idea what was about to happen to this pup.
It took almost no time and the rescuers from the shelter placed the pup, now named Freddy, on their euthanasia list. The woman was in complete shock.
She had no idea why they would do this, but she knew that she had to react immediately. She called another rescue who volunteered to take him in.
And, just like that, she saved Freddy’s life twice. Even though he is safe now, there is still a long journey ahead of him.
He is very malnourished and has many skin problems, so he will need to be treated for those before he is placed on an adoption list. It might take a few weeks or months, but he will heal.
It seems like he is a very sweet and patient pup, so I have no doubts that he will find a loving family who will be willing to give him a second chance.
