Woman Notices A Tiny Head Peeking Out Of The Dumped Box, She Immediately Calls The Police

We all would love to see happy canines in warm homes with loving people who are not willing to do them any harm.

Unfortunately, the reality is far from that ideal scenario as many people do bad things to animals, including their pets. They neglect, abuse, and abandon them no matter their age or breed.

That is why we are all forced to witness dumped dogs left to fend for themselves on the harsh streets. To make matters worse, even the tiny fur babies are not spared of this sad fate.

One woman who was passing by a bus stop in Springfield, Oregon was best convinced of this when she suddenly saw a strange box nearby.

Heartbreaking Contents Of The Box

As soon as this woman saw that there was something strange about this box, she came closer to see what it was. She was shocked when she saw a tiny head peeking out of it, which prompted her to call the police immediately.

According to the Facebook post of the Springfield Police Department, there were six puppies (no more than a few weeks old) inside a box that “had been taped completely closed.”

The police also stated that the pups had no ventilation and no “food, water, or attempt to keep the puppies warm.”

The poor little ones were transported to Springfield Animal Control right away. However, they did not stay there for long because they were quickly taken over by employees of Greenhill Humane Society, an animal shelter located in Eugene, Oregon.

The good people who worked at this shelter immediately went into action to help the puppies recover. During that time, the police began an investigation.

Justice Served!

It did not take the police long to find out who the perpetrator was as the box was marked with a shipping label showing the address of a person named Jeff Dugger

According to KEZI, when the police continued to investigate, they also found out that this 72-year-old man “had called Greenhill about 24 hours before the box was found and threatened to dispose of them if the humane society did not take them in immediately.”

Those statements were confirmed by Kelly Fleischmann, the community engagement manager at Greenhill Humane Society. That was enough for the police to arrest Jeffery Lynn Dugger and charge him with six counts of animal abandonment / cruelty. Justice served!

But, that was not the only good news – the puppies also recovered very quickly and started to feel great to the delight of all the people who participated in their rescue and recovery.

“We’re delighted to be able to say those puppies are thriving,” Kelly happily stated, adding that they will soon be ready for adoption.

In the end, the good people emerged victorious again, and those on the other side got what they deserved!
