Carlyn Foreman, a foster from New York, has always been fond of dogs. However, no dog stole her heart like Norman did.
Foreman had been a Waldo’s Rescue Pen volunteer for the last few months when she saw a photo of this sweet Pitbull mix at a Georgia shelter. He was desperate to escape the confines of his kennel – and she desperately wanted to give him a hug.
The only problem was that Carlyn’s busy schedule didn’t allow her to foster any dog on a long-term basis. To save Norman, she agreed to foster him for one night only. But, as it turned out, that was impossible!
She Just Wanted To Hug Him

Carlyn’s heart broke the minute she saw the photo of Norman in a Georgia shelter.
Working as a Waldo’s Rescue Pen volunteer in New York, she learned that the pup had a great chance of being transferred to a foster home. The only problem was a volunteer who agreed to foster him couldn’t do it for one night – and Carlyn immediately stepped up.
She couldn’t allow Norman to lose the opportunity to start a new life just because of logistics.
“As of 11 PM the night before transport, he didn’t have a foster and was at risk of staying in Georgia,” Carlyn wrote in an Instagram video.
So, after a 20-hour van ride to New York – Norman was finally in her home.

The two took an Uber home, and just two hours later, Carlyn fell completely in love with Norman. His easy-going nature and loving personality is on another level. So far, no dog had dazzled Carlyn the way Norman did.
And, that’s when she realized she couldn’t let him go. Instead, she switched to being his permanent foster!
“He got off the 20hr van ride with a wagging tail and the biggest smile. At 9AM we Ubered home, and by 11AM I knew I couldn’t let him go, so I switched to being his full-time foster,” she added.

Norman’s life changed completely. He was no longer a shelter dog, but a beautiful foster pup who embraced his new life with paws wide open. He was so genuinely sweet and laid back. He slept through most of the day and night, which made him the easiest dog ever.
The only outbursts of energy he had were when he was around other dogs. He was sweet, friendly, loved humans – and loved every single pet he met in Carlyn’s family, which only gave him “bonus points!”
His incredible adaptation to a new life made his mom love him even more, and that ultimately meant only one thing…
From Temporary To Permanent

Carlyn definitely didn’t plan on keeping Norman forever. But, it happened!
After fostering this pup for a few weeks, she decided to make it official and make Norman a full member of her family.
“I didn’t plan to adopt, but sometimes you just can’t say goodbye. Welcome home, Normy,” Carlyin wrote.

Today, Norman has a whole new life. He’s no longer confined in a small space and doesn’t have an uncertain future. Now, he has everything – and more!
He makes friends, enjoys cuddles with his mom and other hoomans, takes cozy naps on the most comfy couch ever, and watches sunsets with Carlyn in Central Park.
It definitely doesn’t get any better than that!
