When a school teacher named Rebecca spotted Olivia and Sherlock roaming the streets in Central California and looking for food, she knew she had to help them.
Olivia was timid and didn’t let Rebeca touch her.
On the other hand, Sherlock was friendly and the kind woman soon gained his trust.
Since she suspected that the bonded duo was hiding puppies somewhere, Rebecca was determined to find them and bring them to safety.
She came up with a brilliant plan to uncover the secret that Olivia and Sherlock were keeping from her.
Learning The Puppies’ Location
Rebecca placed a GPS tracker on Sherlock and soon discovered the place where Olivia and Sherlock were hiding their eight puppies.
She reached out to Hope For Paws, an animal rescue in Los Angeles, and urged them to help a canine family.
Since Sherlock was hit by a car while he was looking for food, Rebecca asked the rescuers to bring some medication for the doggo. His leg was injured and he was enduring pain.
Eldad and his team rushed to their aid.
When they arrived at the rescue location after a four-hour ride, it was already night.
Eldad handed Rebecca the medication for Sherlock.
In order not to scare the canine family, they agreed to rescue the doggy family the next day.
In the morning, Rebecca and the rescue team came to the dogs’ hiding spot and sprang into action.
Eldad started feeding Olivia and Sherlock, trying to win them over.
The puppies seemed distrustful as they looked at the rescuers and kept their distance.
Capturing The Dogs
The team built a large enclosure and lured Olivia and Sherlock into it.
They placed the crate inside the enclosure and started feeding the dogs and talking to them. Slowly, with the use of a net, the rescuers cornered them.
When Olivia realized that they wanted to trap her, she became nervous and wanted to escape.
But fortunately, the rescuers managed to put a leash over her neck and put her in a crate.
Once Olivia and Sherlock were rescued, the team could focus on the furbabies. They never had any interaction with humans and they felt scared.
Before long, the rescuers caught one puppy who surrendered to them.
The other puppies hid in the den. They were too scared.
The rescue team brought Olivia closer to her babies, hoping that she would coax them into the trap.
When the puppies saw their beloved mama, they wished to be next to her and started approaching her.
Thanks to the joint efforts of the whole team, all of the puppies except one were captured. The remaining puppy was overwhelmed with fear and escaped to the den.
Fortunately, Eldad and the team found him crying loudly for his mom. They took the pup in their arms and loaded him into the vehicle together with his family.
Doggy Family Is Finally Safe
The rescue team drove the canine family to the vet. They fed them and gave them a soothing bath.
Since they were born in an agricultural area, the rescuers named them Strawberry, Cherry, Kiwi, Clementine, Peaches, Mango, Lemon, and Banana.
Sherlock took an X-ray, which revealed that he had a dislocated hip and needed surgery.
Three days after they were rescued, Olivia and the kids were relaxed. They enjoyed spending time with their caregivers and playing with toys.
Before his scheduled surgery, Sherlock visited Olivia and the kids. The doggy family was happy to be reunited again.
LA Animal Rescue took the whole family in and decided to foster them.
