We can all agree that our life would be much more difficult if we did not have the sense of sight. We get most of the information precisely through this sense, and therefore, we also communicate with the environment while using it.
With dogs, the situation is somewhat different. Although our furry friends also have eyes, they are much less important to them than to us. What is much more significant to dogs is located a little bit lower than their eyes – their nose.
Dogs can smell anywhere from 1,000 to 10,000 times better than people, so according to this, it is quite logical that it is their most important “window to the world.”
However, there is a great gap between a thousand and ten thousand, i.e., some dogs have a much stronger sense of smell, not just than humans, but also than other dogs.
This is exactly what a woman from the Bay Area of California wanted to prove when she put her dog’s sense of smell to the test. At the end, she was amazed by the results.
Aggressive Sniffing For Heartwarming Finding
Ever since Alli Serrano had a German Shepherd mix named Max, she always liked to challenge him, and he enjoyed it. So, one day, Alli decided to challenge Max’s sense of smell.
Since she knew that Max adores his dad, that is, his second owner, she gave him the task of finding daddy by himself using his sense of smell.
Max immediately started aggressively sniffing the elevator of the building in the Bay Area of California where his dad was, and dragging his mom who was right behind him.
He first sniffed on one floor of the building, but when he realized that his beloved daddy was not there, he again dragged his mother to the elevator, demanding that they go to a higher floor.
In the elevator, he was very excited – he barked, turned around, and sniffed even more aggressively. When they finally reached the upper floor, Max’s excitement culminated, and he immediately ran towards the door of one of the apartments, asking his mom to open it for him.
After Mom obeyed his order, Max rushed inside and immediately jumped on something “hidden” on the floor beneath the couch. Of course, it was his daddy, and for Max, it was the most heartwarming finding.
Alli recorded this successfully-passed test the whole time and finally posted the video on TikTok via her account, @allidventures.

“It’s amazing to see his nose in action,” she wrote in the caption of the video.
Alli also gave an interview about the video where she stated: “He was absolutely looking for his dad who had just come home and passed by the same lobby, not long before the video was taken. I thought it was hilarious that he sniffed so intensely at some point.”
In addition, Alli emphasized that she had to encourage Max to use his sense of smell in the past, and that for this precise reason, she is very proud of him for passing this sniffing test so successfully.
Numerous Reactions
Because of its specific and interesting content, Alli expected that this video would attract attention, but she couldn’t even dream that it would be to this extent.
“Social media has been mostly enthralled by his abilities,” Alli said. “People love dogs and they love seeing their personalities, and I think it was a very fortunate timing that I caught what I did.”
There were numerous reactions, and we decided to highlight some of the comments.
“That’s incredible! The aggressive sniffing is so cute 😂,” one user wrote.
“that is the sweetest thing ever 🥹😭,” another added.
And, the third took a sigh of relief: “I got so much anxiety thinking that this was a retired alert dog alerting for something bad 😭”
Alli answered him quickly, and we will end this article with her words: “Oh no I’m sorry, this was a happy ending though 🫶🏽.”
