What is the first thing that pops into your mind when you hear “Golden Retriever?”
Is it a floppy-eared, long-coated Golden pup running freely in a field or retrieving a ball from the water? Or, is it a social pup with the friendliest smile, trying to befriend everyone in the park? Or, perhaps a Goldie mastering all those complex commands and skills without breaking a sweat?
While these are indeed the most popular traits of this breed, one Illinois owner didn’t quite get what she expected from her Golden Retriever pup.
Her new pet is an absolute surprise. Here’s why!
Is He Really A Golden Retriever?
When Kylie adopted her Golden Retriever, Oakley, she expected to live a life with an adventurous pup who would barely “agree” to stay in the house overnight. Boy, was she wrong!
While he had all the Golden Retriever markings, Oakley was the complete opposite of what she expected. He had a fabulous coat, a friendly attitude, and a GR body that “fit the description,” yet he was instead nothing but an iPad kid!
Oakley is so into the TV that he literally sits in front of it, growls, and waits for Kylie to turn it on.
That’s right!
He makes himself comfortable on the couch and waits for that moment. Then, when the TV is finally on, nothing else really matters anymore!
“When I thought I was getting a Golden Retriever but got an ipad kid that growls at the tv if I don’t turn it on for him,” Kylie wrote in the video posted on TikTok.
Oakley soon went viral for his hilarious little “addiction,” with people sharing their own experiences with their dogs. Apparently, Oakley’s case isn’t unique!
“My golden is the biggest iPad kid I know,” one person said.
“I swear lab does this until I turn her heated blanket on and the fan… and say get on the ‘big bed’,” another shared their experience
“My Goldendoodle has his own tablet,” the third added.
The truth is, Oakley doesn’t mind if it’s Animal Planet, a random movie, or some TV show… the important thing is that the TV is on!
It’s fair to say that Oakley has a special place in his heart for Disney cartoons. Whenever he hears the Disney sound, he gets as excited as possible!
The Sweetest Attention Thief
Oakley is a truly special pup, and not only in the “iPad kid” area. When he’s not all about the TV, he is probably out with his mom and friends enjoying a delicious pup cup.
But, in order to get there, Oakley has to “hold hands” with his mom during a car ride. Yes, he’s that “demanding!”
Oakley is a true attention thief, but he doesn’t mind. In fact, he loves it! And, his owners love it, too!
Plus, he has this famous, glorious “Oakley smirk” that makes him even more special. Is it due to the fact that he rules the house? Or, is it a natural thing? Who could tell?
But yes, it’s adorable – and one of many reasons why his momma loves him so much.
Oakley is definitely a gem. He’s the perfect companion who takes casual chilling in front of the TV to a whole other level and will let you join him (if you bring a patting incentive)!
