Ludo didn’t know that life could be beautiful. He lived with abusive owners who turned his life into a nightmare.
The doggo became terrified of humans and didn’t believe that his situation would ever get better.
When animal control heard that Ludo was abused, they seized him from his owner and brought him to a shelter.
Overwhelmed with fear, Ludo cowered in the corner of his kennel. He didn’t let anyone touch him, let alone pet him.
After spending years at the shelter, sadly, the traumatized dog was scheduled for euthanasia.
Thankfully, that was when Ludo’s heroes at Warrick Humane Society, located in Newburgh, Indiana, showed up and pulled him out of the shelter.
A Wonderful Family Gives Ludo A Chance

A kind couple, Stefanie and Keith Brinkman, heard that there was a sweet dog named Ludo and that nobody wanted to adopt him because he was too afraid of people.
When the Brinkman family heard Ludo’s story, they were moved. They wished to help him but they couldn’t adopt him because their senior dog, Mojo, didn’t get along with other dogs.
Stefanie posted about Ludo on her Facebook account and tried to find him a family but to no avail.
When the couple lost Mojo to cancer, they were heartbroken.
One night, Stefanie had a dream that Mojo brought her a white dog who was in need of help.
Stefanie was convinced that the dream was a sign that she and her family should bring Ludo home, foster him, and see what happened next.
Once Ludo moved in with his foster family, he spent most of his time in his crate, wishing to hide from everyone.

All the family members took turns and visited Ludo. They sat and lay next to his crate, talking to him and trying to support him.
Little by little, Ludo began coming out of his shell. He started by standing at the door of his room, whimpering and looking toward his foster family. His heart craved their love but he was still afraid to trust them.
Love Is Stronger Than Fear

His amazing foster family never gave up on him. They kept trying to gain his trust.
Ludo realized that his need to be loved was much stronger than his fear and he let his foster family pet him.

The pup felt loved for the very first time.
Gradually, Ludo started discovering the beauty of life. He went on adventures with his foster family and began smiling and soaking up all the love he received.

The Brinkman family adopted Ludo.
However, the doggo was still extremely afraid of men and he still didn’t trust Keith, although his foster dad took great care of him.
When the Brinkmans found out that Rosco, Ludo’s half-brother, was rescued and brought to the shelter, they adopted him, too.
Ludo and Rosco were thrilled to be reunited.
Since Rosco grew up in the same abusive household as Ludo, he was traumatized as well.
Stefanie and her family healed all his wounds with love and patience just like they did with Ludo.

When Ludo saw that Rosco trusted their dad, Keith, he finally warmed up to him and began cuddling with him.
Ludo and Rosco live their best life in Indiana. Their story is yet another proof that love can heal emotional wounds and transform someone’s life.
