The Saddest-Looking Dog Spends 5 Years In Shelter After Being Overlooked By Everyone

It’s hard to be overlooked, especially for a shelter dog.

Picture it: you constantly watch your buddies walking out that door and never coming back, asking yourself: “Where have they gone?” Then, you spend months next to your kennel window, scanning all those strange people coming to the shelter and always passing by you.

How truly heartbreaking!

Yet, Carol, a seven-year-old Pittie, has lived this way for the past five years.

Since the COVID era, she has been a shelter girl, praying for the next humans who arrive at the Louisiana shelter to be her new adopters. Sadly, that still hasn’t happened!

Entering Her Golden Years

Carol is probably the saddest-looking Pittie I’ve ever seen, and she has every reason for that. Her entire life revolves around those four kennel walls and short, occasional outings with caregivers.

However, Carol’s situation now is much better than it was before she arrived at Animal Rescue New Orleans, in Louisiana.

According to the staff, Carol was saved from a rural shelter where she underwent poor treatment. She suffered from skin infections and a mass cell tumor, and she was heartworm positive.

When she was finally relocated, Carol learned what a loving human touch and care felt like. She successfully underwent medical treatment and received a clean bill of health in no time.

Over the years, Carol even developed a friendly relationship with the staff, turning into a sweet, laid-back Pittie girl. She craves attention from everyone she meets and enjoys being cuddled so much.

Still, her shelter days are taking a toll on her. This sad-eyed pup is already entering her senior years and yet she has never seen the beauty of family life from inside a home. What’s even sadder is the fact that Carol would make the perfect companion!

“Carol is 7 years old and entering her senior years. Thanks to her aging wisdom, she’s quite calm and prefers easygoing walks and sun bathing as opposed to intense outings,” the Louisiana shelter wrote in a Facebook post.

There’s Still Hope

Despite all the heartbreaks life has thrown in front of her, Carol has never stopped hoping. This adorable Pittie still waits for that perfect change, wagging her tail and showering potential adopters with the sweetest smile.

In the meantime, Carol dreams of lounging by the pool and enjoying the sun – two of her favorite activities.

“She prefers leisurely strolls to intense hikes, and her idea of a perfect day involves lounging by the pool, soaking up the sun’s warmth, and dipping her paws into the cool water,” her Petfinder profile reads.

One thing is for sure: Carol has definitely spent too much time at the shelter. And, it’s definitely her time to live a happy, family life surrounded by the people who will love her unconditionally.

“It’s time for her to experience the love, care, and security that only a forever home can provide. She has so much love to give and is ready to share it with the right person or family,” her profile concludes.

Good luck, sweet girl!
