When Aurora’s owners left her at an overcrowded shelter, she was heartbroken. The German Shepherd couldn’t stand the constant noise and she kept cowering and trembling with fear.
As the pup spent a month at the shelter without any progress, her future became uncertain. She was moments away from being placed on the euthanasia list.
When FurryTail Endings, a rescue in California, heard about Aurora’s heartbreak, they decided to visit the shelter she was in.
Once they met the doggo in person, their hearts sank. She looked at them with eyes filled with tears as if she was pleading to be saved.
Breaking Free
The rescuers realized that Aurora experienced trauma and abuse. Apart from her constant shaking, the doggo flinched every time someone tried to touch her.
She was especially afraid of men, which was why the rescue team assumed that her abuser was a man.
The heartbroken rescuers tried to comfort Aurora. They pulled her from the shelter, determined to mend her heart and help her find happiness.
Once the doggo stepped out of the shelter, she expressed her gratitude and nestled into her rescuers’ arms.
“The second she was out of the kennel, she melted into our arms, desperate for the love she hadn’t received in so long,” the rescue wrote on Instagram.
The rescue team promised her that she would never be hurt again.
Although she felt relieved, Aurora still couldn’t imagine that a new life was waiting for her.
Her rescuers placed her with an experienced foster who began working with her and helping her overcome her fear.
Little by little, Aurora started realizing that life could be wonderful. She loved being free and running in the yard.
As days went by, her confidence increased and she overcame her difficult past.
Aurora Discovers Unconditional Love
Aurora turned into a love bug and her friends at the rescue were smitten with her.
They posted Aurora’s heartbreaking story on their social media, along with the footage of her as she was trembling in the shelter kennel.
A woman named Heather came across her video and felt brokenhearted to see how terrified the doggo had been.
Although she was not looking to adopt a pup, Heather decided to give a forever home to Aurora. She and her partner filled out the adoption application, hoping that the rescue would choose them.
Heather was over the moon when the rescue team notified her that Aurora was their new pup.
The doggo traveled to her new home in Colorado and started the happiest chapter of her life.
Her doggy sister, Keela, took her under her wing and helped her settle in.
Aurora’s new parents gave her love and helped her heal her broken heart. She adores them. Every morning she waits for her mom to wake up so that they can cuddle.
The pup is no longer terrified of men. She overcame her trauma and she now enjoys snuggling with her new dad.
