When a dedicated rescuer by the name of Caryn logged into her Facebook, she came across the most heartbreaking post ever.
It was regarding a group of dogs who had been kept locked up in an abandoned property nearby.
Since she worked as a rescuer for the Humane Society of Mason County (HSMC), Caryn knew she had to do something to help. After noticing that the authorities didn’t arrive in time, the woman decided to take matters into her own hands and visit the property herself.
Not On My Watch
When she arrived at the location and saw with her own eyes the situation these poor pups were in, she couldn’t help but shed a tear.
“[They] were found abandoned, living in squalid conditions,” the Humane Society of Mason County (HSMC) wrote in a video about the said pups.
The pups were living in a run-down, muddy backyard full of trash and dangerous items. In total, there were six dogs, including an adorable duo – Hank and Scooby.
After the authorities arrived, they were able to grant Caryn permission to organize the removal of the pups. Luckily, she was able to immediately secure a safe place for the pups to go to. One pup went to the People for Animal Care and Kindness. The rest of them were taken care of by the HSMC.
In no time, Mason County society found a loving foster home for a pup named Brutus. The rest of them, that included Scooby and Hank, Tucker and Ringo, were taken in by a loving foster mom named Donna.
Patience Is Key
As time went by, Tucker and Ringo were able to find a permanent home for themselves. Unfortunately, Scooby and Hank didn’t have that luck. Because of their traumatic experience, they were extremely nervous and unable to make friends with hoomans.
“Both boys were incredibly timid of new people, situations and loud noises. [B]ut they thrived around other dogs, who helped give them confidence,” a representative from HSMC told The Dodo.
But the determined rescuers refused to give up hope. They knew that, when the time was right, the perfect fit would arrive and take these sweet boys to their pawfect homes. And they were right! Just a couple of months later, Scooby was adopted.
“After 182 days with HSMC, Scooby has finally found his forever family! He loves his canine brother, and his new people will give him all the time he needs to feel safe and comfortable in his new home,” the representative said.
Now, the only pup left was Hank. Considering the incredible progress he showed from his rescue up until this point, everybody at the rescue knows that the forever home of his dreams is right around the corner!
“Hank has made incredible progress in his foster home, gaining confidence every day. He is incredibly polite while playing with his older canine sister, who has severe arthritis, and he loves to race around the yard with his younger playmates,” the representative said.
