Sad Stray Pup Dragged Her Paws From Door To Door, Begging People To Give Her A Home

There is nothing that stray dogs would love more than to have humans who would give them infinite love.

A little pup named Makena craved that love, too. She went door-to-door, pleading with people to show her some compassion and give her a home.

Makena would sit in front of residential gates and gaze into people’s yards with sorrowful eyes. She hoped that they would offer her a helping hand and warm her heart with a little bit of kindness.

When Suzette Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, a dog rescue in Irvine, California, learned that Makena kept begging people to help her for about a month, her heart became overwhelmed with sadness

Hall reached out to her friend and volunteer, Mary Nakiso and they headed to the address where Makena was last seen.

Upon arriving at the location, Hall and Nakiso spotted the pooch and they set traps with yummy treats, hoping to lure her in.

They tried to gain Makena’s trust for hours and just when she started approaching the trap, a bystander spoiled their plan.

“We were there for 5 hours, and she was almost in my trap when a mean neighbor came and kicked the trap so hard she ran in panic,” Hall wrote in a Facebook post.

The doggo was so frightened that she immediately left the neighborhood where she had been circling for weeks. She disappeared into the night.

Feeling disappointed, the rescuers had no other choice but to return home and continue with their mission the next day.

The Power Of Kindness

A big-hearted resident named Janet left food and water for Makena, hoping that she would reappear.

Fortunately, the pup came back in the morning. Once she saw the bowl and water that Janet left her, Makena was happy.

The sweet girl kept coming and relying on the food that the good lady left for her. She started spending time with her and her dog.

When Janet notified Hall that the pup felt comfortable in her presence, the rescuer knew that it was their chance to catch her.

“I was like, ‘This is our chance.’ Normally, she would run like a cheetah as fast as she could if anyone looked at her, but last night was her night,” Hall added.

Hall dashed to Janet’s house and asked a next-door neighbor for his help. The kind man allowed Hall and Janet to use his yard where they set a trap for Makena.

Since the doggo trusted Janet, she accompanied her into the neighbor’s yard.

Both Hall and Janet were surprised because they didn’t need a trap. They successfully surrounded the pup and the kind man picked Makena up.

Hall was overwhelmed with emotions. The adorable girl was finally safe in her arms.

At first, the kind-hearted rescuer put Makena in the crate so that she could relax, but shortly afterward, she pulled over and placed the pup in the front seat.

Makena curled up on the blankets, feeling safe at last. She knew that her difficult life was behind her and that better things were waiting for her.

When Hall saw Makena’s nose peeking out of the blanket, she was overjoyed.

“I looked over, and I [saw] her nose peeking out from under the blanket. This girl’s month of homelessness was over, and she knew it,” Hall wrote.

Hall drove the adorable dog to Camino Pet Hospital in Irvine where she was thoroughly examined.

Luckily, Makena got a clean bill of health and she moved to her foster home.

The pooch feels happy. She enjoys living with her foster family who dote on her and make her feel loved.

I hope that the lovely girl will soon find the forever home that she has been searching for all along.
