It was 8:30 in the morning when a staff member came to work at Pet Rescue Solutions in South El Monte, California.
As she approached the building, a shocking sight attracted her attention.
There was a strange black blanket under a tree near the shelter building and it seemed to be covering something.
Her heart sank as she assumed what was underneath and she rushed to investigate.
She gently lifted the blanket and was shocked to see a furry family curled up in a crate, shivering with cold.
A worried mother cat tried to keep her precious little kittens warm.
A Little Family Pleads For Help

The family looked at the employee with sad eyes as if they were pleading for help.
The rescue staff couldn’t know for sure when the cat family was abandoned near the shelter building.
However, since the blanket was rain-soaked, they concluded that someone must have dumped them at night right before the heavy rain.
“We do not know when they were dropped off. We know that it rained a lot all night before, and the blanket was soaked. They must have been there the night before,” Eva Rainwater, the director of Pet Rescue Solutions, told The Dodo.
The mother and her three babies were hungry and skinny.
The staff member brought them inside and promised that they would never have to endure hunger and cold again.
Relieved To Be Safe And Warm
Since she and her kittens were safe and warm, the mama cat could finally relax.
After the vet examined them, they concluded that overall, the cat family was in good health.
They needed food in order to regain strength and a lot of love that would help them forget the hardships they went through.
The staff did everything they could to make them comfortable. They fed them and prepared them a nice place to stay.
The kittens were delighted with the toys they received.

The mother, later named Flow, was estimated to be only six or seven months old and her kittens were around a month and a half.
The rescue staff still hasn’t named the babies. As they enjoy hanging out with them, they can’t wait to get to know the kittens’ personalities and decide which names suit them best.
Flow and her kittens prove how resilient cats are.
Although they were rejected and abandoned outside in the cold, the mama cat and her babies are doing pretty well.
As soon as they are ready, the family will start searching for their place under the sun.
Until that happens, they will stay at the California rescue and absorb all the love their caregivers shower them with.
