When Oscar was thrown into a dumpster in a Houston neighborhood, he was absolutely terrified.
Feeling powerless, the Rottweiler cowered on the bottom of the dumpster with a heartbreaking look on his face. It seemed as if he had given up on himself.
However, when Oscar least expected it, a resident who came to throw trash discovered him. They immediately reached out to volunteers at Fur A Pawsitive Future and asked them to come to Oscar’s aid.
Although the rescue group focuses on helping stray cats, they rushed to help the dog who desperately needed them.
Offering Hope To A Defeated Pup
Once the rescuers arrived at the scene and saw Oscar hopelessly lying in the dumpster surrounded with litter, their hearts shattered.
“He looked so defeated. Our hearts just melted, broke [and] melted again,” Dr. Shireen Hyrapiet, the president of Fur A Pawsitive Future, told The Dodo.
The rescuers started talking to Oscar, trying to lift his spirits. Since he was failed by humans before, the pup was too scared to trust them.
The rescue team put a leash over his neck and tried to remove him from the dumpster, but the pup froze and refused to move.
They came up with a different plan and put an opened crate inside the dumpster, hoping that Oscar would enter.
That proved to be a splendid plan!
As soon as the pup saw the crate, he entered it. His rescuers were relieved and they pulled him from the dumpster.
The volunteers brought him home and took care of him. In the morning, they drove him to the BARC animal shelter.
Since that shelter was overcrowded, the staff posted Oscar’s story on their social media, asking rescue organizations to pull him out and give him a second shot at happiness.
Oscar Can’t Wait To Meet His Humans
Texas Bark Squad, a rescue organization based in Houston, heard about the pup and was shocked by his heartwrenching story.
Luckily, a foster stepped up and offered to foster Oscar until he found a forever home.
That’s when Texas Bark Squad pulled him from the shelter and promised him that he would never be thrown and rejected again.
“Welcome, Oscar. You’re part of the Texas Bark Squad now—and you’ll never be thrown away again,” the rescue wrote on Facebook.
He delighted his heroes with his sweet character. Despite having experienced cruelty in the hands of humans, Oscar was nothing but love.
The pup is now in a foster home where he receives all the affection and care he’s been missing.
From a frightened pup who was lying in the dumpster, Oscar turned into a sweet pup who keeps smiling.
He hopes that he will soon find a permanent home and humans who will love him unconditionally.
