Nowadays, it’s not easy for any dog to find a forever home, even if they don’t have any health or behavioral issues. You can only imagine the challenges faced by dogs who aren’t so lucky and were born with certain conditions.
Arnold, a stray dog, was found wandering the streets by rescuers and was soon brought to a shelter in Pontiac, Michigan. From the moment he arrived, the shelter staff fell in love with him. He was goofy, affectionate, bold, and curious, quickly winning everyone over.
Unfortunately, they noticed he was different from the other dogs and soon discovered that he had some issues caused by irresponsible breeding.
Hilarious Encounter With The Door
Michigan Animal Rescue League staff were sad because of the fate of their new dog, but at the same time, happy because of his willingness to live life to the fullest despite all the difficulties.
From the very first day, this amazing dog was everywhere and he was so inquisitive and opinionated that it was truly incredible.
However, what intrigued and also delighted the shelter employees and volunteers the most was when Arnold moved to his new kennel.
Namely, the shelter staff installed a clear plastic doggy door for him that allowed him to get in and out of the kennel without any problems.
Yet, on the other hand, Arnold saw a big problem in this door, which intrigued these people the most, so much so that they even recorded a video of Arnold’s encounter with that same doggy door.
“Arnold was pretty stumped by his doggy door,” Tommy Sanfilippo, content coordinator at Michigan Animal Rescue League, told The Dodo. “We tried putting treats on the other side to entice him through, and even had a staff member squeeze through to show him that it’s okay, but he remained pretty wary of it.”
However, Arnold did not give up and constantly looked for ways to win the battle against this unpleasant door.
A Much Bigger Door Opened For Him
In his next encounter with the plastic doggy door, Arnold used a different tactic. This time, he did not just stare at the door and lightly touch it but decided to fight it.
He waved his paws and used his teeth to bite the plastic door as much as possible. He even stepped into his kennel several times, only to return to where he was.
The shelter employee could not help but record this amazing and hilarious scene. At that moment, it certainly did not occur to him that this video would change Arnold’s life.
However, that is exactly what happened as adopters went crazy for this special dog.
“Overall it’s resulted in over 120 [adoption] applications so far; obviously he can only go to one home, but it’s cool to see interest in our shelter that could lead to some of our other animals getting adopted as well,” Tommy said.
Arnold didn’t manage to get through the door alone, but still, he didn’t want to give up. It was his persistence and faith in the final victory that opened a much bigger door for him – the door of a forever home.
