If there is one thing that can completely turn a dog’s life upside down, it’s being surrendered to a shelter by the person they trusted the most.
It’s even worse when the pup is a lot older and they can no longer live a normal life. Surrendering senior dogs can make it almost impossible for them to find a home.
Most people just want puppies, and very few people would be interested in an old dog with serious health problems.
I have no doubt that most senior dogs would fit in easily with just about anyone, but that’s just the reality.
Jiffy’s story was not much different. She lived a normal life, but it all suddenly changed when her owner surrendered her to a shelter.
She Looked So Devastated

After being sent to the shelter in Louisiana, Jiffy’s life turned upside down, and she couldn’t understand why she was there. In the beginning, there was some belief that might change.
But, her mood didn’t improve at first. Her owners’ health was deteriorating, so their only choice was to give up Jiffy so she could hopefully find a better home.
However, Jiffy was heartbroken by everything that happened. She just wanted to see her favorite humans again.
Her rescuers weren’t sure what to do. She had hypothyroidism, which basically affected her skin, hair, and weight.

It was a difficult condition to deal with, and it wouldn’t go well without any kind of therapy, so she needed medication on a regular basis. However, this posed one additional problem.
If Jiffy wants to get into a forever home, it might be a bit difficult because she is a senior with health problems, and finding someone willing to adopt her would be difficult.
Jiffy’s rescuers did what they could to make her stay as comfortable as possible, and it looked like it worked for a bit.
She Is Still A Strong Pup

They noticed that her mood was slowly improving and she looked more comfortable being around them. This was great news.
She also appeared to be social with just about anyone she met, including other dogs. Knowing all of this means that it’s going to be just a bit easier to find her a home.
Jiffy deserves to be in a home where she will be given plenty of attention and exercise because she is a senior. She will also have to take medications on a daily basis.
Still, they know that it’s a challenging road ahead for her. Considering how wary people are of dogs with medical conditions, she might stay there for the rest of her life.
Nevertheless, the amazing Louisiana rescuers are doing everything they can to give her that one opportunity to live out the rest of her life in peace with a loving family.
I hope Jiffy gets that chance because no dog should have to spend their final years alone in a shelter. She deserves a forever home.
