Lovely Senior Pup Who Was Abused And Left In An Abandoned House Found The Perfect Family

Hero’s eyes were only looking for love, and yet his merciless owners mistreated and abused him for years.

Rescuers were shocked when they found Hero severely injured and left to perish in an abandoned house.

The canine was admitted to Kern County Shelter in Bakersfield, California where was given 1% chance of survival.

When the good humans at Pit Crew Sacramento Rescue saw Hero for the first time, they were heartbroken to see the pup in such a terrible state. He was a shell of a dog.

As soon as he noticed them, Hero started wagging his tail. His hopeful eyes captivated the rescuers and they promised to rescue him.

Good People Fight For Hero

They pulled him from the shelter, determined to help him reach full health and find the love his heart wished for.

After the rescuers took him to their car, the doggo buried his face into their arms, wishing to thank him for giving him a chance.

His heroes were by his side during his road to recovery, supporting him and showering him with love.

The pup was placed into a wonderful foster home.

Despite being treated terribly by his owners, Hero was trusting toward humans and he quickly bonded with his foster mom. She adored him and she felt lucky to have felt the pup’s love.

For both his rescuers and his foster mom, Hero was a special dog.

“Hero is one of those dogs that leaves paw prints in your heart. He is one in a million. We are so very lucky to have him and to know him, is to love him beyond comprehension. A love so deep and true…it can never be replaced,” the Pit Rescue Sacramento wrote in a Facebook post.

A wonderful couple, Rusty and Ana who foster for the rescue followed Hero’s case from the very beginning. His eyes, which craved love deeply impressed the couple.

“His sweet eyes, they were just saying, you know, love me, and you just thought, wow, this guy really deserves a chance,” Ana told GeoBeats Animals.

As soon as he made a full recovery, they came to visit him.

Rusty and Ana brought Sugar Bear, a family dog to the meet-and-greet. When Sugar Bear, who was usually timid, saw Hero for the first time, her eyes twinkled with joy.

Hero’s Happily Ever After

In March of 2019, Hero said goodbye to his beloved heroes and moved in with his new family, starting a new chapter in his life.

The doggo was overjoyed because his lifelong dream came true. He was smiling even while taking a nap.

Since he missed love his whole life, Hero was constantly looking for cuddles.

“He just wanted to be loved. If you stop petting him at all, he’d start nudging you to remind you, hey, I’m still here,” Rusty added.

Hero loved both his parents, but his bond with his dad was something special. The lovely canine enjoyed going on car rides with him.

Since Rusty’s truck had a particular muffler sound, Hero and Sugar Bear would always hear him coming down the street and they rushed to the front door to greet him.

Hero lived his best life with his forever family who loved him boundlessly. He felt like the luckiest pup in the world.

Sadly, in April of 2022, Hero’s health began deteriorating and he crossed the rainbow bridge on May 6th.

The sweet pup will always hold a special place in the hearts of his parents. They are so grateful to him because he was part of their lives.

Thank you to Hero’s forever parents for giving him the happiest years of his life.
