Few things can compare to the thrill of a dog who is just about to be adopted. If you have ever witnessed this heartwarming situation, you know exactly what I am talking about. A frantic tail wag, a blissful pair of eyes, and a racing heart that screams “I’m finally going home!”
Now, to add a little context to the story: a black-and-white dog with medium-long fur, the soul of an innocent child, the temperament of an ideal companion, and the most beautiful smile ever! Ladies and gentlemen, meet Prince!
He embodied all of this during the most important encounter of his life. But, not long after he had been adopted, Prince had to face a nightmare once again.
Prince Just Wanted To Be Loved
Thanks to the Connecticut rescue organization, PawSafe, Prince was timely rescued from a high-euthanasia shelter. He replaced uncertainty and poor treatment with a safe, nurturing environment and people who actually cared about him.
When he was finally strong and healed enough to start all over again, Prince was given a chance.
A man reached out to his Connecticut home, fell in love with Prince, and made a commitment. It was the perfect day.
In fact, it was one of those defining moments of happiness Prince will probably never forget… the touch of a loving hand, a warm hug from his new dad, and a brand-new adventure ahead of them. Just perfect!
However, things soon changed.
What initially looked like the perfect ending to the perfect story became Prince’s nightmare. Not long after he was adopted, Prince arrived at the shelter once again.
According to the staff, his owner got a job that required extensive travel so he decided to part ways with his companion, not even thinking twice about it.
“Sadly, his owner became too busy with his own forever to remember Prince’s forever and he’s back at the shelter,” PawSafe wrote in a TikTok post.
Let’s Start All Over Again
Now, Prince has to start things all over again. Heartbroken and confused, this lovely dog is still in a great deal of shock, trying to understand why he had been brought to the same place he was picked up from.
The good thing is – Prince won’t take long to warm up to his caregivers. He is a naturally sweet dog who gets along with everyone he meets. On top of that, he’s very well-trained and knows how to behave in various social situations.
“He’s a very sweet boy, housebroken, crate trained, and very good with everyone he meets. While his photos do not do him justice, he’s kinda sleek and kinda scruffy all in one. He’s been bounced around a bit while his previous owner traveled and has adjusted wonderfully each time,” the rescue adds.
Hopefully, Prince won’t need to stay long in the rescue.
He’s already accustomed to a spacious environment and life in a home, and the rescue setting doesn’t do him any good. Prince and his caring hoomans really hope that his new family is just around the corner, planning to keep him and love him permanently this time.
