It’s shocking anytime a person decides to abandon their pets. While it may seem like a huge problem for us dog lovers, a lot of people don’t seem to think so.
Why? Well, the simple answer is that they never cared for the animals in the first place. A lot of owners get dogs and get rid of them whenever it suits them.
It’s cruel, but what is even worse is how they are abandoned, which presents the problem. Too many times, they are just left in the middle of nowhere to starve.
This small puppy was no exception. He was on his own in the woods, and he had serious health problems. Without intervention, he wouldn’t make it.
However, his luck did turn for the better when rescuers finally got the message about him and decided to help.
His Belly Was Swollen
After receiving the message, the rescuers were surprised that it was actually about two dogs, not just one.
However, upon arriving at the location, they only found one puppy after two days of searching. The poor pup had a huge belly and was just terrified by all the people around him.
He desperately needed medical intervention, so the rescuers didn’t waste any time. The puppy was immediately transferred to a vehicle and taken to the veterinarian clinic.
As for the other puppy, one of the rescuers stayed and continued the search in hopes of finding him. While there was little hope of finding him, they decided to continue the search.
The puppy that was taken to the clinic received first aid and the veterinarians were able to perform some tests on him to see what was wrong.
Aside from the fact that his abdomen was filled with fluid, his heart was also failing him and he will need immediate treatment.
His Trauma Was Severe
Even in the care of his kind rescuers and veterinarians, the puppy just couldn’t relax. There were signs of abuse and neglect all over him. Who knows what he really went through before?
The veterinarians had to proceed with the treatment and they decided to remove all of the fluid from his body.
They had to do it several times because there was just that much fluid inside his belly. Luckily, they were able to do it all safely, so he was recovering slowly.
His rescuers just kept wondering what could have happened to him to cause such fear of other people. Who were his owners before and how could they let this happen?
There were too many questions, but no answers. Nevertheless, they had to press forward and continue treating him.
After some time in the clinic, the veterinarians were able to cheer him up a little. He was starting to wag his tail around and he looked a little more relaxed.
As for his heart problems, the only thing they can do is treat it with medicine for the rest of his life. That was his only option, really. However, his belly swelling has gone down completely.
Lucky Is Making A Change
The veterinarians have discharged him from the clinic and the rescuers decided to take him into one of their homes.
Even now, the puppy is still really reluctant and scared, but they were hoping that this is what he needed to recover. Then, they made a nice spot for him in the house where he could relax and rest.
As for the other puppy that the rescuers were searching in the woods, they were not able to find him. They were heartbroken, but the rescuers knew they had to focus on helping this pup.
The puppy, now named Lucky, had serious psychological problems, so his rescuer took him to see a therapist who would hopefully help him recover.
With time, love, and care, this adorable puppy was starting to change, day by day. He would eventually change in many ways. He grew more confident and playful. This was a huge step.
While the scars of his abuse will always be there, it’s comforting to know that he has someone wonderful taking care of him. I am so happy to see he is doing okay.
