It’s always a tragedy to see a dog who has experienced heartbreak living on the streets. Just by seeing them, you can see just how much they have gone through.
A Good Samaritan spotted this dog who has been through a lot. It looked like he had a serious limp, likely from an injury, and he really needed help.
So, the kind person called rescuers to the location and sent them the video of this malnourished dog. Right after the call, a rescuer went to help.
He Lost Trust In Other People
When the rescuer finally found this dog, she felt heartbroken after seeing his condition. He was curled up in a pile of leaves for warmth.
He had scales all over his body, and he looked like he was injured. Right as his rescuer approached him, he looked concerned and tried to bite her.
The pup lost all his faith in other people and there was no telling what he went through before his rescuer came to help.
Naturally, most people would get frightened trying to help a dog who looked aggressive, but his rescuer continued. She dropped off some food for him, and he immediately went for it.
Even though all he wanted to do was run away from other people, he gave in because the pup was so hungry. It must have been a long time before his last meal.
After eating, the woman closely followed him to see what he would do, and she noticed that he
went to drink some water from a river. He had a limp and it was causing him a lot of discomfort.
A Successful Rescue
The woman wanted to figure out a way to get this dog inside her car, but she couldn’t do it alone. At first, she thought to call other rescuers to help her, but then something happened.
A boy on a bike stopped and decided to offer her a helping hand. Together, they were able to calm this dog down and lead him into the car.
He seemed a bit more relaxed this time around. Maybe the pup was treated well by other children, or the food convinced him that the rescuer was not a threat. Whatever the reason, he was safe now.
The moment he was taken into the car, the woman went to a veterinarian clinic, so the dog could receive medical attention.
At the clinic, they established that he had heartworms, enlarged kidneys, urinary tract infections, and dermatitis. He was also old and had a limp, likely caused due to an injury.
He had barely any teeth left due to his age. Likely, his previous owner could not care for him, and that led to this dog’s abandonment.
The veterinarians thought it was best if he lived in a home where he would be cared for. The medicine would take care of other health problems.
Abuelo Is Finally Recovering
After she took him home, she noticed that he was always sad. She was determined to change that. With her help, he received his therapy daily and she spent a lot of time around this pup.
The dog, now named Abuelo, grew fond of his rescuer, and he would slowly start to explore his surroundings more. Due to treatment, his fur cleared up and he was starting to look better.
Because he was old, he needed very specific foods. Nutrition was the key, so he always received the best food.
Despite his age, Abuelo was recovering faster than expected. The only problem left was his mood. He did change a bit for the better, but his sadness never went away. The trauma from his past life clearly affected him greatly.
Nevertheless, his rescuer continued trying to help him. She would take him for walks more often and he got a chance to spend time in places he had never been.
His mood had improved gradually and he started to love his amazing rescuer even more. Seeing his tail wags was a major step in the right direction.
The two of them spent almost all of their time together and the change in Abuelo was apparent. His rescuer decided to adopt him and give this dog the life he has always deserved.
Even though he is old, he still has a lot of time and his rescuer is determined to make sure he gets to enjoy every moment he has. He has finally found happiness with someone special.
