One thing most dogs always clutch for comfort is a plush toy. This is a pretty common occurrence for anyone who has ever had a dog.
However, it happens even more in shelters, where most pups are confined to a small space with nothing to keep them company aside from a small toy.
A place like that is usually noisy with all the dogs barking for help, and it’s just a tough place to live in for long periods of time.
The same thing happened to Wally, who was at Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter (TOHAS) in New York for over 1800 days.
But, unlike most dogs, he would often choose something else for comfort, and it was very surprising to his rescuers.
He Likes His Bowl Very Much

Wally’s rescuers were stunned after learning that he likes to cling to his bowl for comfort. It’s unlike any dog at the shelter, and he carries it all the time.
This sweet pup had spent over five years at the shelter, and the kind shelter staff from New York were worried about him.
Over the years he spent there, his anxiety increased. The constant barking and confined space can make anyone feel that way. His rescuers tried to make him feel better.

They did what they could to help him, but it looked like nobody wanted him. That little bowl he carried with him was his only source of comfort there.
Everyone was just heartbroken to see that, and it was not like he didn’t already get his heart broken a few times.
Since he was taken into the shelter, the rescuers were able to find at least two homes for him, but he was sent back both times.
Rescuers Are Clinging On To Hope

It most certainly didn’t happen because of his behavior. The rescuers knew that Wally was a very cheerful and outgoing pup.
Every time he was sent back, he would return differently and more anxious. It was clear that he couldn’t bear this burden anymore. He just wanted a normal life.
Even though he is heartbroken over not having a family, his rescuers do their best to cheer him up all the time, and it works.

He’s a very sweet dog who enjoys running outside and playing with other pups or staff members. Wally also doesn’t mind trading his toys for a nice treat.
His rescuers are so happy to know that just being outside makes a huge difference for him. It’s like he becomes a completely different dog when he gets a chance to run around and play.
Despite all the obstacles, they are still hopeful that he will be able to find a loving family sometime soon. He had a really difficult journey, and he deserves a break.
