I have to be honest: I don’t think I have ever heard a case of a dog being put through laboratory tests in my life. It just sounds so wrong on every level.
When you really think about it, these pups have to go through so much. They don’t understand why any of it is happening… they just put up with it.
These pups hope that something will change so that they can live a normal life, but it’s hard to imagine that happening when only a few people know what they are going through.
This sweet dog was in the same situation. He was born in New York, but was then sent to California for lab tests, and his life was just tragic.
However, there was some hope for him when a group of kind rescuers finally heard about his story and came to his rescue.
His Life Was Horrible
After spending a year being tested on, Otis was finally rescued by the Beagle Freedom Project in California. Even though he was not a Beagle, they couldn’t just ignore his story.
They took him in and tried to rehabilitate him. They sent him to several foster homes and all of his new caretakers noticed that he had behavioral problems.
Considering that he was experimented upon, it’s no surprise that he ended up like that. It’s heartbreaking just thinking about it.
He was completely unsocialized and nobody really knew how to help him until one day, he met someone who turned his life around.
A kind man decided to foster him, and he realized that it was going to be a difficult journey helping Otis, so he took it slow.
The two of them had just met and the kind man realized that he wanted to adopt him. It was that simple. Otis needed someone who was compassionate and understanding, and he finally found that person.
Otis’ Incredible Transformation
Since then, Otis has been a completely different dog. Everything about his life has changed. He is going on walks, loves playing all the time, and his favorite activity is going to the beach.
For him, the beach is one of the most comforting places. He feels true happiness and freedom when he’s running on it and his owner is so happy for him.
His owner was concerned that he might end up having some behavioral problems in the future, but that never really happened.
Otis was always an outgoing and cheerful pup deep down, and that part of his personality finally got a chance to shine when he was taken in by his owner.
One thing his owner did notice was that he was really scared of loud noises. That would make him feel really anxious. He suspected that it had something to do with the testing he underwent.
So, his owner tries his best to avoid loud places because he doesn’t believe that there is a cure for that. Nevertheless, Otis just feels really safe when he is with his owner.
The two of them are on an amazing journey together, and his owner noted that he will always be there for Otis. He is just the sweetest dog and he deserves to finally live a peaceful life.
