Trying to help a dog who has been in a shelter can’t be an easy task for rescuers. I mean, they know that the pup is slowly getting uncomfortable, but there is little they can do.
Taking them out for walks and giving them food and a comfortable space to live in does help, but these pups would rather be with a loving family and in a good home.
That’s what all these rescuers are fighting for, but it’s not always easy. Sometimes, dogs just don’t get lucky or they get overlooked all the time.
Such was the case for Punkin. She came into the shelter a long time ago, but her search for a new family was extremely difficult. Her rescuers were doing their best, but she needed more help.
Is There Hope For Punkin?
After spending over 1000 days in The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach, in South Carolina, the rescuers were no longer optimistic about Punkin’s chances.
Even though she was the sweetest dog ever, she was constantly overlooked by potential adopters. She is really playful and loves to spend time with other people.
The problem is that she doesn’t initially come off as a very happy and playful pup to people who are looking to adopt.
Punkin requires some time to warm up to people and that is the main reason why she usually doesn’t leave a good first impression.
Also, she is a bit selective about the dogs she would like to spend time with, so that can be another obstacle for people who have more dogs in their home.
A woman who was running an account called RescueMeATL decided to reach out and offer some support for Punkin.
She wanted to raise awareness about her situation. The pup was stuck at the shelter in South Carolina for too long and it was time for her to find a new home.

The woman recorded some footage to show her story and the video received quite a bit of attention online. Many people reached out to show their support.
One person commented: “Thank you for bringing attention to this beautiful girl. I hope she finds her forever home soon.”
I am also hopeful that she will find an amazing family after this. She deserves all the best and I think she is ready to find a forever home.
Another person said: “Thank you for showing her love while she awaits her forever home she so deserves.”
Her rescuers are just the best. They are showering her with affection all the time and showing her that she is not alone. I believe that she has stayed so sweet because of her rescuers.
Lastly, somebody commented: “What a sweetie! She just needs the right family! I hope people see this baby and get her out of the shelter!”
I, too, am hopeful that this will lead to a better future for Punkin. The outreach on this video is really incredible and it’s looking increasingly likely that someone will come and adopt her soon.
While we don’t know what happens next in Punkin’s story, it’s always good to know that she is in good hands with her kind rescuers. They are doing their best to give her the life she deserves.
