Lost Pup From Colorado Walked All The Way To Indiana Before Being Rescued And Returned To Owner

I think we can all agree that vets are heroes without capes.

Not only do they dedicate their entire lives to animals in need, making them feel happy and healthy, but they also help many pet owners whenever they need assistance with their furry buddies.

And, the lengths that they are willing to go to to ensure this is just incredible. They truly understand how strong the bond between a person and their pet is.

No Road Is Too Long

When a good samaritan noticed a stray pup wandering around the road all by herself, they knew that they needed to do something to help.

Without a single hesitation, they managed to win over the trust of the pup, Diva, allowing them to take her to a nearby vet, Oak Knoll Veterinary Clinic.

As soon as they met the pup, the veterinary technicians, Maggie Thornberry and Elizabeth Daniele, knew they had to scan her for a microchip. The second they heard that beeping sound, they were relieved and immediately contacted Diva’s owner.

However, what they found out next absolutely shocked them. The pup was missing for two months and lived four states away!

“I didn’t think I was going to see her again because she’d been gone for two months. “My first question was, ‘How did she get over there?!’” Maria Rodriguez, Divas owner, tells People

Together Again

Knowing how important Diva was to Rodriguez, the two technicians knew they had to do something to reunite them. So, they agreed to meet Rodriguez halfway there, in Kansas City.

After gathering all the supplies they needed, the little team began their eight-hour drive with smiles on their faces and songs on their lips.

When they reached their destination, Rodriguez came running toward Diva who, the second she noticed her, wasn’t able to contain her excitement. The emotional reunion was truly worth it.

“It was a super fulfilling experience. I am applying for veterinary school this month, so I am very excited. The vet field can be so draining emotionally and incredibly hard at times, but it’s moments like these that remind us why we do what we do. It was so heartwarming, and we would do it over again,” Thornberry said.

After sharing Diva’s story on her TikTok page, which has since gone viral, Thornberry was overjoyed when she realized how many incredible people shared their love in the comment section.

“I am so happy she is home. I just couldn’t stop thinking about if it was my dog. My dog is my best friend and I hope someone would take care of him the way that I took care of their dog,” she added.

But, nobody was as happy as Rodriguez when she had her sweet baby in her arms again.

“Diva’s doing really good. She got back in the habit of things. Just seeing her again, I still can’t believe that she’s here. I cried and I prayed and that was my baby and she’s home now,” Rodriguez concluded.

Let this incredible story be a reminder for you to always have your pets microchipped. You never know what the future holds!
