The aftermath of Hurricane Helene in the affected areas of the United States is utterly heartbreaking.
So many affected hoomans are trying to keep their hopes up as they were forced to leave their homes and properties due to the storm and ensuing floods. However, others who are disturbed during these hard times are animals.
Countless fur babies were left absolutely terrified because of the natural disaster, forcing them to put all their trust into their loving hoomans who did everything to keep them safe.
However, one brave doggo had to do this all by herself.
One Brave Doggo
As the search and rescue team of the Kingsport Fire Department and Murfreesboro Police Department were in the field looking through the washed-out banks of the Nolichucky River, they came across somebody in desperate need of help.
A little pup had climbed up a tall tree, hoping to escape the scary water.
“[She was] stranded around 20 feet up,” the fire department wrote in a Facebook post.
The rescuers believe that this brave girl had been swept up by the huge river after the hurricane hit. Luckily, she managed to stay afloat, thanks to some debris and found a safe refuge on top of a high tree.
However, as the river returned to its basin, the pup was stuck on the tree with no way down!
A Happy Rescue Mission
The second the kind hoomans spotted her, they knew they had to offer her a helping hand.
They brought in their trusty ladder, climbed up to the pup, and brought her down to the ground, safe and sound.
“After retrieving the dog, who was happily removed from the tree, rescuers were able to feed her,” they wrote.
Even though this adorable girl, now named Athena, had a pretty scary adventure, she had no injuries whatsoever and was in perfect health!
The only thing that was left to do now was to find out if she had a loving family waiting for her!
She was transported to the local shelter where the workers worked tirelessly to reunite Athena with her favorite hoomans.
The local fire department shared a report done by the WCYB where they stated that the pup did find her way back home.
This made every single hooman who followed her story cry tears of joy while the entire community got the strength they needed to stay hopeful through this tragedy.
We got this!
