I’m pretty sure that if dogs could talk, they would tell everybody that their biggest dream is to be a part of a kind and loving family.
I mean, think about it… every pup I know is absolutely obsessed with everything we hoomans do, from cuddles to food, so why wouldn’t they want to be around them all the time?
And, many pups are fortunate enough to live this type of life. Unfortunately, however, there are those who aren’t as lucky.
Countless adorable pups are forced to spend their days either on the cold streets or inside crowded shelters, wishing to finally be noticed by someone.
Tucker sure does.
I Just Want To Be Loved

This adorable eight-year-old pooch has had the misfortune of spending most of his life inside a shelter.
After spending a brief period of time with his family, in 2018, they decided to take him back to his original shelter and surrender him. To nobody’s surprise, being without a loving family took a huge toll on Tucker, making him retreat inside his shelter, waiting for the days to pass.
Luckily, the incredible people at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter decided to step in and care for this sweet boy.

Seeing how incredible and friendly Tucker was, the staff members hoped that they would be able to find him the perfect family. But, since he did have some restrictions, such as a family without children or other pets, they knew it would take some time.
But, they never imagined that it would take him seven years!
It Finally Happened!
As 2024 rolled around, Tucker had spent six long years in the shelter. But, finally, something happened: Tucker was adopted!
Seeing how much his little face lightened up when he finally stepped out of his kennel and walked out of the shelter made everybody cry tears of joy. The entire staff couldn’t have been happier for him.
Unfortunately, after 10 months, he was returned.
“He got lots of freedom and quiet time. We here at the shelter were very saddened to see him come back as he seemed so content in the home environment,” Ashley Behrens, Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter’s acting director, told The Dodo.

Looking For A Home
No matter how much the staff adores seeing him daily, they can’t help but feel absolutely disheartened to see him back in his kennel.
“It’s heartbreaking. He really has come such a long way from when he first came in, and he’s a pretty easy dog,” Behrens said.
In order to make him feel a bit better, Julia and Deanna decided to take him out for a little picnic in the park. This really did help Tucker feel like he was a part of a family, at least for a day.

Tucker is still looking for the perfect family. So, if you are looking for an adorable pup who will make sure you are loved and cared for, look no further!
This sweet boy will make every day feel like an adventure – even though he is eight years old!
“He just wants to live out his golden years with peace and comfort, and we want that for him too,” Behrens concluded.
