While driving down a remote road, a rescuer noticed a scared and anxious pup.
Knowing that he needed a helping hand, the reducer stopped her car and got out. But, the second the pup realized that the rescuer was approaching him, he immediately began barking and growling.
The poor pup must have been mistreated so badly that he no longer trusted any hooman he came across.
Luckily, this rescuer was not going to give up so easily.
Rescue Mission
Because the pup was so anxious, the rescuer decided to take her time and allow the pup to get to know her better.
“I was driving my scooter, and I saw this little white thing laying in the middle of the right lane. And trucks would come around that corner. So it was just so incredibly dangerous. I saw him hobble off because his front leg was a bit weird,” Prue, of Mission Pawsible, told The Dodo.
After a couple of minutes, the hungry pup became so exhausted that he allowed the rescuer to pick him up and bring him to her car.
However, when they got to Prue’s home, the pup still refused to trust her. He hid in the corner, attentively observing everything.
When the reducer prepared some food and gave it to him, the pup was startled again because he had no idea that someone could care so much for him.
New Life
It was obvious that this puppy, now named Murphy, was full of fear. That is why Prue knew how important it was for him to decompress.
Murphy didn’t like having anybody around him so he spent his entire first week in her laundry.
“He very much chose the furthest corner to retreat to. I just thought, ‘Look, I’m just gonna give him a bit of time and space’,” she added.
Because she had two other foster pups with her at the time, Prue showed Murphy how nice his life could be if only he lowered his guard.
Witnessing the love she had for the other pups really helped Murphy relax because one day, he decided to roll on his back and allow Prue to give him some sweet belly rubs.
Three days later, Murphy found his way inside of the home.
“He was curious to come in and see what else was going on. It showed that he had broken through that fear. The day that he decided to just come inside was the day that his guard really dropped,” Prue stated.
Ever since Murphy understood that he was not only safe but also loved, he transformed into the cuddliest love bug ever.
But, the thing that was most impressive was the influence he had on the other pups Prue fostered. Whenever they would start their playdate, the foster pups would become puppies all over again.
“He’s honestly the perfect puzzle piece for our family. He’s truly remarkable. I love him,” Prue concluded.
