It’s pretty clear that animals make our world a better place.
Not only are they so adorable, but they are also our best friends, loyal companions, and family.
That is why it breaks my heart when I remember how badly animals are treated every single day. Instead of leading happy and healthy lives in their own homes, they are forced to live out their days surviving the harsh and cold streets.
You can only imagine how happy I get when I come across a story in which kindhearted people offer a helping hand to these poor animals.
Rescue Mission
While driving on a highway one summer day, Rosa María Segura Alcántar and her husband, Erick, noticed something out of the ordinary.
After getting a closer look, they noticed that it was actually a pup. Without wasting a single second, the couple immediately pulled over.
“She looked confused, dehydrated, and malnourished. We stopped, and she started coming towards us,” Rosa told The Dodo.
After stepping out of the car and waiting for the traffic to pass, Eric crossed the highway, carefully grabbed the pup, and carried her back to the car.
After spending some time with the pup, the couple noticed that she had an old injury on her neck. They concluded that she must have been tied up somewhere for a long time before being abandoned.
But that no longer mattered. The most important thing was that she was now safe and it seemed that she felt it too.
New Chapter
As they began diving away, they noticed the pup, now named Manzana, had melted in their arms and was finally able to lower her guard and go to sleep.
But what Manzana didn’t know was that she was rescued by the best couple ever. Rosa and Erick are the proud owners of a happy animal shelter.
Since their life mission is dedicated to rescuing, caring for, and rehoming pups in need, the couple knew what they had to do.
“We feel relieved to have Manzana with us. She would have died out there, either hit by a car or from a lack of food and water,” Rosa said.
Now, the couple is looking for the perfect home in which this sweet girl will blossom. But, in the meantime, they are making sure to shower her with as much love and attention as possible.
“She’s already gained weight since her rescue. She is not aggressive at all. She is very calm, loving, caring and gets along with other dogs. Her little eyes are shining,” Rosa concluded.
I am sure that, when the time is right, this sweet girl will find a home that will love and appreciate her just like she deserves.
