This Newborn Puppy Was Rejected By His Mom, But Then He Found New Hope In His Rescuers

One day, the workers at the Barrow County Animal Control met a little puppy who seemed to be the runt of the litter.

Because of his open fontanelle, his mother kept rejecting him. So, hoping to help him, his owners decided it would be best if they surrendered him to the shelter where he could be taken care of.

Unfortunately, the pup wasn’t in a good condition. He was severely dehydrated and extremely malnourished. The vets also suspected that he might have had a seizure on his way to them. That is why they needed to take good care of him.

The medical staff gave the puppy all the necessary medications he needed. They also made him a cozy bed where he could finally decompress.

Unfortunately, this did not help with the pup’s condition. As the days went by, the pup wasn’t able to keep his food down. He also suffered from several seizures and has difficulty breathing

The vets placed him in an oxygen chamber, hoping that would help him. Naming him Stewie, the shelter staff kept a close eye on him, being ready to assist him in any way necessary.

Finally, the pup began feeling better. He was able to keep his formula down, so the doctors decided to feed him every two hours. This way, they were able to keep him hydrated and full of nutrients he needed without overwhelming his stomach

After doing countless tests on him, the medical staff was finally able to determine what was wrong with him. Stewie had fully developed roundworms.

Even though this was a hard diagnosis, the vets were happy that they finally knew what they were dealing with.

Unfortunate News

The vets immediately placed him on deworming medication which has helped him shed all the parasites.

Even after giving him all the necessary medications, the vets knew that he still wasn’t out of the woods. But, they refused to give up on him. They placed him on around-the-clock care, showering him with never-ending love and affection.

After six days, Stewie still wasn’t feeling too good. At one point, he even stopped breathing. Luckily, one of the vets was able to resuscitate him, saving his life.

For days, this sweet boy kept vomiting and having seizures. Until one day, he stopped breathing again. This time, the vets were not able to save him. The entire Barrow County Shelter was left heartbroken.

But, at least they knew that Stewie crossed the rainbow bridge knowing he was loved.

His unfortunate story reminds us how important the jobs of rescuers and vets are. They will stop at nothing to try and help animals in need. But sadly, they aren’t miracle workers. A big thank you to every person who tried their best to help this sweet boy, every animal lover in the world appreciates you!
