When a rescuer from Nashville Dog & Cat Rescue was made aware about a pregnant dog in a parking lot in Tennessee, she decided to do something about it.
The rescuer, named Megan, found her wandering around and looking for food.
This made her feel really horrible for the dog, so she decided to find a way to help her, but it was not going to be easy.
She Was So Scared Of People
Whenever Megan tried to get close and help the pregnant dog, she would just move away from her. It was clear that she didn’t feel comfortable around other people.
It’s possible that she had been abused in the past and now just wanted to protect her babies from going through the same thing she had.
She was heavily pregnant, so it was only a matter of time before she gave birth. Megan told The Dodo: “And if something were to happen to her, nobody would know where the puppies are.”
That was the moment where she realized that something had to be done immediately, so she started planning on how to rescue her.
At first, she tried to lure this sweet doggo with food, but she would never get close to them at all. Eventually, the dog gave birth and the plan had to change.
They needed to figure out how to get the mama dog to lead them to the puppies. It was clear that she was going to have to keep her strength up to help her babies.
So, naturally, she would seek out food wherever she could. That’s where Megan came in. She placed a lot of food in the spots where she usually stayed, and a humane trap.
Once the dog fell in the trap, they would place a tracking device on her, which would lead them straight to the puppies. It was a brilliant plan and all they had to do was wait.
Unsurprisingly, the hungry mama dog started seeking out food and ran into the chicken that her rescuers left.
A Beautiful Dog Family
Megan saw that her plan was working, and all that remained was one final step. The mama dog had walked inside the humane trap and was now secured.
She said: “Once we had caught her, we used a tracker device, which was super easy, we just put it on a collar and then we attached the collar to her and let her go, which was hard to do.”
Now that the entire plan was working well, the worried mama dog rushed back to her children. The rescuers were able to see where she was going and this was just great news.
They realized that the dog family was staying under a shed to stay warm, so Megan and the other rescuers rushed to the location to save them.
When they found them all, they learned that this mama dog, now named Miranda, had 8 beautiful and healthy puppies.
They were all taken back to the shelter in Tennessee where they could get food, water, and a medical exam.
After determining that they were more or less all doing okay, the rescuers took care of them until it was their time to be adopted.
When they were finally old enough, all 8 puppies found their forever home in no time and their mom, Miranda was also adopted.
They were lucky to have met such amazing rescuers. It’s because of Megan and the other amazing people who work at the shelter that these dogs are now living their best lives.
