When rescuers found a pregnant dog named Zia wandering the neighborhood, they brought her to a shelter.
The doggo’s body, covered in marks, told the story of her difficult street life.
Although the noisy shelter was not a place where she wanted to give birth to her babies, Zia was grateful and trusting.
The dog felt safe because she was no longer left at the mercy of the streets. She put her faith in humans, believing that they would help her.
Feeling Grateful For Love And Care
In February of 2019, Fresno Bully Rescue in California pulled the soon-to-be-mother from the shelter and then a wonderful foster mom, Noelani took her home and fostered her.
When she moved in with her foster mom, Zia felt relieved and grateful. She kept licking her face and showering her with kisses.
Noelani was amazed by her loving personality.
“…She remains loving and trusting. She squeezes her head in your armpit seeking comfort and friendship,” Noelani wrote on Facebook.
Zia’s foster mama gave her a nice soothing bath and prepared a whelping box.
Five days later, the lovely dog gave birth to four adorable little puppies, later named Zoie, Zeus, Zorro, and Zaina.
Her foster mom was by her side, giving her support and love.
Zia felt exhausted and relieved at the same time. All her babies were healthy.
After she nursed them, they slept soundly in her arms. Zia took great care of her furbabies. She was an excellent mother.
With every passing day, the puppies thrived more.
As they grew a bit older, Zia’s babies started revealing their personalities.
Their mom loved watching them enjoy their puppyhood in a loving home.
The adorable mama and her puppies loved spending time outdoors running in the field and feeling the soft grass under their paws.
Finding The Unconditional Love All Dogs Deserve
When the puppies were old enough, they all found amazing families who couldn’t wait to shower them with love.
The mama dog stayed with Noelani, hoping that she would find her happiness, too.
Fortunately, Zia didn’t have to wait long to receive the happiest possible news.
A wonderful family saw her on her foster mom’s Instagram and they instantly fell in love with her.
In May of 2019, Zia moved to San Francisco to start a new life with her family. The doggo was thrilled because her greatest dream had come true.
Her forever parents and the little humans gave her a ton of love.
Liz, Zia’s mom, continued posting updates about the doggo’s happy life on Instagram. She loved cuddling with her family and absorbing their love.
When Zia was diagnosed with cancer in December of 2019, she proved to be a true warrior. She underwent surgery and became cancer-free.
The dog recovered and continued enjoying her life like nothing had happened.
In January of 2024, Zia’s family shared on Instagram that the sweet doggo crossed the rainbow bridge. They felt grateful for all the wonderful years they spent with her and they promised to love her forever.
“Impossible to fit our years with Z into a minute. What a sweet, special dog. Fly high, our Zizi girl. Thank you so much for the memories. We’ll love you forever,” Liz wrote in an Instagram post.
