For rescuers, seeing a stray dog who is very fearful of humans is not an uncommon sight. In fact, this is how most pups react first when someone approaches them.
Most of the time, their fear exists because they have been let down by other humans in the past, and they are having a hard time trusting anyone again.
In some very rare instances, a pup who was born isolated from humans might just be scared of them because he doesn’t know any better, but that almost never happens.
For this pregnant doggo from North Carolina, things were not looking well. She was almost ready to give birth, but she could hardly stand being around other humans. Then, it all changed one day.
She Has The Best Foster Mom
After Melody first met her new foster mom, Nicole, it was like something in her shifted. She understood that this human just wanted to help her.
Her life changed so much because she knew there was one human she could trust. She was heavily pregnant, and it was almost time to give birth.
Thanks to her foster mom, she was in a safe environment, and that it shouldn’t be too difficult now. As days went by, Nicole noticed a change in Melody.
She wouldn’t eat her dinner and she became a little restless. This meant that she was getting close to giving birth.
Then, it happened. In one afternoon, Melody gave birth to ten beautiful babies, and everything went as smoothly as could be expected.
In almost an instant, Nicole saw just how attentive and caring Melody was as a mom. It was really a heartwarming sight.
Given how everything went so well, her foster mom concluded that Melody probably had puppies sometime in the past and was possibly used for breeding. While it’s hard to confirm exactly what happened, her fear of humans says a lot.
Melody Is Regaining Her Confidence
Now that she is safe with Nicole, she will make sure that this sweet dog gets to live a better life than her previous one.
As the puppies were growing up, everything was changing around Nicole. The sweet babies became hyperactive and were exploring her entire house.
At around 6 to 8 weeks, they were completely different. The puppies have grown up so much that it’s hard to recognize them. However, Nicole knew that now was the time for some change.
She wanted Melody to get some time for herself and work on her confidence, so they hired a trainer named John, from North Carolina, to help her.
He helped her so much, and Melody was a completely different pup by the time they finished her training. She was no longer afraid of everything, and it looked like she was doing a lot better.
She now gets a chance to just enjoy her life. Melody is a really sweet and goofy dog. There is no doubt that she will get along well with everyone.
Her rescuers and her foster mom are hopeful that they will be able to find a loving home for her in no time. Even though she went through a lot, she is still a very cheerful dog who deserves to spend her life with someone special.
