Heavily Pregnant Dog About To Give Birth On The Cold Street Was Too Scared To Beg For Help

Sometimes, we all need a little push, and so did this soon-to-be-mama dog roaming the dangerous streets of Southern California.

She wandered for months, trying to find the best place to deliver her babies. Yet, she always returned to the same old place – the streets. The mama dog desperately needed help, but whenever it arrived, she was too scared to accept it.

Instead, she constantly ran away from humans, not trusting even the friendliest hand.

Neighbors Tried To Help

When Suzette Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy rescue in Irvine, California, received a call about the dog, she knew she had to do something about it. Hall and her kind-hearted team of volunteers couldn’t allow the momma dog to have her babies alone on the streets.

Hall immediately drove to the said spot, knowing that this might be a tricky rescue. According to the neighbors, the dog was extremely traumatized and refused any help.

She would always run away just in time to avoid any interaction with humans. But then, she would always come back to the streets in search of food.

When Hall finally spotted her, the dog ran away one more time. Then, the California rescuer decided to take a different approach. She set a humane trap filled with delicious food nearby, waiting for this sweet mama to step into it.

Although she wasn’t sure how the dog would react, an amazing thing happened just moments later.

She entered the trap, clearly starved and in need of a meal, and was safe the very next moment.

“She would run if you looked at her but when I opened the can of chicken she froze and immediately started coming towards my trap. It wasn’t long that we had her safe,” Hall stated on her Facebook account.

It took some time for the pooch to relax around her rescuers, but she eventually revealed her true colors. She was a sweet, tiny mama who didn’t have a mean bone in her body.

Thanks to Hall and her fellow volunteers, the dog found her safe place with Alix Levy Smith at Second Leash On Life. She finally learned the true meaning of love and felt comfortable for the first time in what seemed like forever.

And now, the drumroll! The night before Thanksgiving, the mama decided to surprise her caregivers with the sweetest gift – her five little babies.

“Well look at this, the night before Thanksgiving she gave birth to 4 boys and 1 girl in a warm home. Sweet mama, your family is beautiful,” Hall wrote.

Thanks to the selfless efforts of the entire team, this sweet dog was able to bring her pups into the world in a safe place surrounded by love and all the things she needed for proper nursing.

She’s now enjoying the new role in her life and learning all about being a mom. I must say she seems like a natural!

Good luck, mama! And happy nursing!
