When life knocks you down, be like Tony!
He was abandoned, left hanging out to dry, and completely cut off from the world. Yet, this tiny but resilient pup never stopped holding onto hope that better days would come.
He lay there by the river, putting all his trust into humanity despite this rough past, and finally humanity showed him its kinder face!
He Was On The Edge
Thanks to an elderly woman who couldn’t walk past Tony, this furry boy received his first proper meal in a long time.
He had been stranded on the side of the road, right next to a river, lying helplessly. The woman couldn’t remain indifferent. This was Tony’s first encounter with hoomans that meant well!
Sadly, he had been abandoned by his owners years ago. During his journey of solitude, he faced many obstacles, which ultimately led to horrific circumstances. Tony ended up with large wounds on his thighs, infested with maggots, and with his spine broken.
He was left paralyzed through no fault of his own at just five months of age. Due to his condition, the only thing he could do was lie and wait for passersby to be kind enough to help him. And, that’s exactly what he did!
However, no one except for the lady who fed him paid attention to him. No one until now… Tony’s street caregiver contacted a local rescue group, which immediately arrived at the spot.
Right there, it only took a glance at Tony for their hearts to completely shatter! He was such a good boi trapped in such a bad situation. And, he definitely didn’t deserve any of this to happen.
Due to his condition, he couldn’t stop crying in pain, hoping that it would eventually go away.
Hours later, Tony was successfully transferred to a vet clinic where his treatment began.
Thanks to his rescuers, he received the best care possible, surrounded by people who finally cared. Medications, IV fluids, and proper food – everything he had desperately needed all along was finally at his disposal.
Everything but his hind legs. Sadly, Tony’s condition was permanent. The vets diagnosed him with irreparable paralysis caused by a severe spinal fracture.
Embracing Life’s Second Chance
“Who says you need all four of your paws to have the time of your life,” is definitely something Tony would say if he could speak. After only a month in intensive care, he was already a brand-new boi with a new chance at life.
Even though his recovery was slow and Tony couldn’t walk like his furry buddies, Tony was incredibly grateful to be saved.
His kindness, enthusiasm, and zest for life allowed him to live a good life, eventually finding a loving home with a beautiful family.
Tony is now a cuddle bug who shares adventures with his hoomans and doggo siblings and he couldn’t be happier! He even has his very own customized wheelchair that enables him to join in on exciting activities.
Despite the horrible start in life, Tony has overcome all obstacles, all thanks to love. He’s already mastered many skills and knows all the how-tos in the household, which makes him so special!
Now, his only goal is to live carefree, to the best of his abilities. Good luck, sweet boy!
