Most of us would love to live in an ideal world where everyone loves and respects everyone and where people treat animals well, especially their pets. Unfortunately, that is far from reality, and we can witness that every day.
Animals are neglected and abused, and most of them are abandoned to the shelters or left to fend for themselves on the streets. That human cruelty really has no boundaries, many examples show, and one of them is the one that happened recently in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
A rescuers got a call from the local animal shelter about a dog named Scout who was found in a dumpster. That, in itself, is horrible, but even worse is the condition the poor dog was in.
Heartbreaking Condition
When the rescuer from the Society of Humane Friends of Georgia saw this dog that appeared to be a Doodle, they were truly shocked by the heartbreaking condition he was in.
Scout was wrapped in dirty laundry, starved, filthy, matted, and covered in fleas. He was so weak he could not even lift his head, much less stand or walk. These people could barely hold back their tears, but they soon managed to pull themselves together.
They knew they had to act quickly so they immediately brought this dog to their car and transported him to the University of Georgia Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Athens, Georgia.
The doctors there, who were, by the way, shocked when they saw this dog, immediately initiated life-saving measures on him. Despite all their efforts, his condition was still critical, and they knew that his road to full recovery would be long and difficult.
Aside from that, this condition required constant specialized hospital care. This, in turn, cost a lot of money, and they themselves could not cover all of it. That’s why they turned to good people through social media who would be willing to donate money for Scout’s recovery.
Then, they realized that there are still humans with huge hearts living in this cruel world.
Saved By Many Good Souls
Many kind people who saw the Facebook post about Scout’s heartbreaking condition decided to donate money for his specialized care and recovery.
That was definitely a turning point in this dog’s life, and the employees of the rescue organization and the hospital were over the moon because of these people’s noble acts.
“We want to extend our sincere thanks to all who have chipped in to cover the cost of his hospital stay,” they wrote in a new post, adding: “Scout is receiving the best of care at UGA and the staff has fallen in love with his sweet, resilient spirit.”
What is most important is that they finally noticed a bit of energy radiating from this dog when one of the doctors took him outside to enjoy a few minutes of fresh air and sunshine. She said he brightened up immediately and even tried to wag his tail.
It was the best sign that he was on the right path and that, despite all the difficulties, his full recovery was only a matter of time. They were convinced of that only two days later when Scout, with the help of a wheelchair, finally stood on all four legs and was delighted about it.
“This heartwarming video speaks for itself. What a champ Scout is! His will to live is inspiring.” they wrote in the caption.
However, the happiest news was that Scout was expected to be released from the hospital in just a few days.
New Life Full Of Hope
After ten most difficult days in the hospital, the happiest day finally came – Scout was released to continue his recovery in a foster home with a family that was waiting for him with open arms.
People from the rescue organization thanked all the good souls who helped this amazing dog, and they especially emphasized the hospital staff who accompanied him when he left.
“The critical care team at UGA has been fabulous as always and they are Scout’s biggest fans,” they wrote in the August 5 Facebook post.
He continued his new life full of hope with an amazing foster mom. Since being with her, nothing but happy news has come from this woman about Scout’s unstoppable progress.
“What an incredible transformation from the dog who couldn’t even lift his head the day we met him. He still has a ways to go but he is definitely a miracle in the making.” she wrote in her latest video.
