For us, true dog lovers, it is sometimes really hard to live in this world full of heartlessness. There is just too much neglect, abuse, and even cruelty toward our best furry friends.
No one is spared — from little puppies to senior dogs, and that breaks our hearts even more. A young man was best convinced of this when he came across a terrible scene one day.
He witnessed that some people are so cruel and do not have empathy even for the fur babies.
He saw an owner literally destroy his little puppy, which shook him to the core, but it didn’t stop him from doing the only right thing.
A True Nightmare
At the last moment, before it was too late, this great young man managed to stop the owner and save this puppy’s life.
He took him in his arms and immediately called for help. One woman, a true dog lover, was happy to continue taking care of the little one, but was beyond sad when she saw the state he was in.
When she brought him to the veterinary clinic, this six-week-old puppy weighed only one pound, but that was not the worst thing.
This poor baby suffered a severe brain injury and several of his internal organs were damaged. On top of that, he was suffering from pneumonia. All in all, there was only a 30% chance that he would survive.
It was a real nightmare that this poor puppy had to go through, but these big-hearted doctors continued doing everything in their power to save him.
He was on fluids and antibiotics day and night, and they also gave him all the other therapies and treatments that he needed to survive and recover.
It was still uncertain, but these people hoped for a happy outcome.
A Resilient Soul
What that cruel man did to this puppy was beyond imaginable for these people. Yet, his later statement shocked them even more.
He said that he wanted to get rid of the puppy because the puppy was always sick and that got on his nerves. The young man and this woman couldn’t believe it, but they remained steadfast in their intention that this man must be brought to justice for what he did.
In the meantime, the news that the puppy was getting better made the woman who was taking care of him really happy. He was still weak and taking a lot of medications, but even the fact that he could stand on his feet, at least a bit, made her day.
After a few more days in the hospital, the puppy was released and the woman decided to name him Rico.
Rico was full of desire to live, but sadly, his condition did not allow him to live life to the fullest. At times it seemed that he was actually just like any other normal dog, but as soon as he stood on his feet a little longer, it would become clear that he wasn’t.
Yet, that did not stop him from living and showing everyone that he is a true little warrior and resilient soul. Unfortunately, his mom noticed at one point that something was wrong.
His New Eyes
As soon as his mother noticed something strange, she took Rico to the vet. Although she was heartbroken when she heard the diagnosis, she already guessed what it was so she did not sink.
Due to the damage to several important nerves, Rico went blind. They tried everything in almost every veterinary clinic, but it was all in vain. He was condemned to live in darkness for the rest of his life.
However, his mom decided to be his beacon. Through her immense love, she became his new eyes, and ultimately, his forever guardian angel. Despite all the difficulties, Rico was finally happy.
Although a heartless man condemned him to darkness, through good souls who saved him, fate illuminated this dog with the most beautiful light, a light of love.
