Tom and Jerry, while cute and arguably one of the all-time favorite kids’ shows, definitely didn’t do justice to dog-cat friendships. So, don’t let the ultimate stigma deceive you – dogs can live with cats, and cats can surely live with dogs. All they need is proper socialization.
Nellie and Crush don’t just do “living.” They’re practically best friends in the world who now can’t imagine life without each other. They match in everything: behavior, playtime, tenderness, and even color!
If I can say one thing with certainty, it’s that Nellie and Crush are what we call the perfect duo!
It Was Meant To Be

Eight years ago, Lindsey Miller, from California, and Nellie, met for the first time in Oregon. Nellie was adopted from a Humane Society and has been a great companion ever since.
Sadly, over time, she developed an autoimmune disease which ultimately resulted in Nellie losing one of her eyes. It was heartbreaking, but the good news was that Nellie never let that be an issue.
She continued to embrace life with an open heart, playing and taking on adventures like she did before.

Then, enter Crush!
Witnessing the harrowing stories the LA fires caused to California pets and their owners, Lindsey decided to do something about it. She contacted several rescues and offered to foster an animal in need.
Eventually, the rescue called Kitty Bungalow informed her about a three-month-old orange kitten that had been “just picked up as a stray,” and Lindsey didn’t think twice. She immediately picked the kitten up and brought it home.
In the beginning, Lindsey was skeptical about how Nellie and Crush, the kitten, would get along. Then, they interacted for the first time – and broke every stereotype in the book.

Nellie loved Crush right off the bat. This teeny-tiny bundle of joy practically sparked a puppy behavior in her, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Lindsey posted a compilation of videos of the two “falling in love with each other” on Instagram and TikTok, and pretty soon, everyone was captivated by their adorable relationship.
“Watch my 10-year old dog fall in love with our 3-month old foster kitten,” Lindsey wrote in the video.
The comments began pouring in, leaving heartwarming reactions to both Crush and Nellie.
“Besties! They picked out matching colors,” one commenter wrote.
“That’s your dog’s kitten now,” another added.
“This is so precious…!!! Thanks for sharing such tenderness in SUCH NEEDED TIME,” one wrote.
He Made Her Life Easier

Nellie is all about her little feline brother.
She even lets him “play” with her ears and tail, and in return, Crush entertains her with creative indoor playtime. They play hide and seek, chase each other, and simply cuddle with each other on a comfy bed.

Crush made Nellie’s life colorful, that’s for sure, but fun isn’t all he does. This kitten also helps his sister overcome separation anxiety whenever Lindsey leaves her in the house.
Now, thanks to Crush, Nellie doesn’t have to worry about being all alone. She has a friend, her ultimate companion who comforts her when times are tough… and Nellie couldn’t be happier about it!

All these things were the reason for Lindsey to realize that Crush truly belongs in her home. After only a week, she decided to fail as a foster and adopt Crush permanently, giving him the home he always wanted.
She saved Crush, but in a way, he also saved them. His presence in his new home is something for which both Lindsey and Nellie are grateful. And, there’s no doubt that many adventures await them in the future!
