When it comes to dog breeders, some people abide by all the necessary rules to ensure that the dogs they have in their care live a normal life.
However, some just don’t care. They will do whatever it takes just to make a profit from the dogs as fast as possible.
Such unethical practices exist all around the world and that is just cruel. However, that doesn’t mean that there are no solutions.
In the case of this story, a group of rescuers from Alaqua Animal Refuge were able to find nine dogs who were severely matted and neglected by their breeder, so they did something amazing.
Rescuers Were Shocked
When the call about the nine dogs came through, the rescuers were surprised to learn that a concerned family member of the breeder called them.
Shortly after receiving the call, they rushed to the location in Florida and were able to find all nine dogs. They were just in horrible condition.
They were all kept in the backyard. All of them had extremely long fur coats and they were likely never taken to a groomer.
To this breeder, they were only necessary for profit. He had no reason to care for them at all so he let them suffer daily.
The rescuers decided to speak to the owner. He was willing to let all nine of them go, which was a huge surprise. I suspect that he knew he didn’t want the trouble anymore.
After this was certain, the rescuers took the dogs away from the owner’s property and transported them safely to the shelter in Florida.
When they got there, the veterinarians couldn’t do anything until all of their fur was off, so that was the first thing they got rid of.
The veterinarians told the rescuers that their fur had grown so much that it was restricting their movement. They could not see because the fur was covering their eyes.
Treatment For All Nine Dogs
The infections were also a big problem for a lot of these pups, so they will definitely need some kind of treatment.
After the grooming sessions were over, the veterinarians removed at least 51 pounds of fur, which was just an insane amount.
Now that the big part of the job is done, they will still need treatments like vaccines, spaying, and nourishment.
At least half of the dogs had heartworms which was heartbreaking news for the rescuers. It’s going to make it really hard for these dogs to find a home because of how expensive the therapy is for this.
Nevertheless, the rescuers never gave up. They worked tirelessly to help them recover because they believed that all of these pups deserved an equal chance to find a loving family.
After many days of therapy and recovery, all nine dogs were doing a lot better. They have made the most incredible transformation ever.
Their health took a turn for the better and they had a promising future ahead of them. The rescuers worked hard to find a home for all of them.
Eventually, they were successful. All nine dogs were adopted by amazing families.
After everything they went through in their lives, all of them are now living their best lives with families who give them all the affection and care in the world.
