How often do you see a Cane Corso that sounds like a baby seal? Or a dolphin?
Well, ladies and gentlemen, prepare to meet Sky, the world’s sweetest Corso – vocalization-wise.
This massive, giant-looking dog goes from her guard mode to her puppy mode within seconds, and it only takes someone she loves to boost that change!
Her Breeder Didn’t Want Her Anymore
Marisha met Skye when she was just a puppy. She took care of her for half the week for some time after her friend asked her for help, and she thought that was about it. However, their story didn’t just end there.
Months later, Skye was used as a breeding dog. After her owner sold all of her puppies, he decided that he didn’t want her anymore, which ultimately led to Skye being homeless.
Luckily, Marisha happily stepped in one more time – and decided to take Skye for good!
During the first couple of months, Skye faced significant challenges in adjusting to the new circumstances. She suffered from severe separation anxiety and couldn’t be left for more than twenty minutes.
During those times, she would bark, howl, and become very distressed, so Marisha and the family decided to do something about it. They put Skye through training, which eventually yielded incredible results.
Countless training sessions later, Skye can now be alone up to four hours, which is truly amazing!
However, there’s one thing that never changed in Skye’s behavior, and that’s her super-fast vocal transformations when she finds herself in different situations.
Different Vocalizations For Different Circumstances
I have never seen a dog transition so quickly from guard mode to puppy mode – sometimes even within seconds! But, Skye can do it and she does it in an undeniably cute way!
For instance, whenever she hears the doorbell, she lets out this big, loud bark. Yet, when she realizes that it’s nanny behind the door, she immediately turns into a puppy!
“When she sees people that she loves, she makes very high-pitched noises and her whole body wiggles when she meets somebody. She goes from guard mode to puppy mode when she realizes who’s at the door,” Marisha told Cuddle Buddies.
She literally sounds like a seal or a dolphin when she’s around the people she loves. In a way, Skye thinks that her tiny voice will bring her attention or treats – and she’s usually right. I mean, who can stay immune to such a pawdorable transformation!
However, Skye’s voice change has its other sides, too. When she’s not the center of everyone’s attention, she makes these high-pitched whining noises to signal her displeasure.
She just can’t help herself. She’s truly a velcro dog, always attached to her mom’s hip and demanding love at all times. But, that’s okay, as Marisha and her family have plenty of love for Skye!
“I believe that we’re soulmates and I think that she came into my life for a reason. She really is the center of everything for me,” Marisha says.
With her unique vocalization, Skye, a massive Cane Corso, is definitely a rare sight. She’s a dog that you don’t come across that often, especially given her tiny puppy demeanor placed within her big, sturdy body.
Her personality is exhibit A that looks aren’t everything! Sometimes, it takes a lot more than just appearance to uncover a dog’s true character, and in Skye’s case, that “more” is her voice!
