New York Mama Dog Hears Puppy Crying In Next Shelter Kennel And Tries To Reach Him Through Kennel Bars

When Paris was admitted to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter (TOHAS) in Wantagh, New York, she felt sad.

The shelter staff didn’t know much about her backstory, but they were sure that she was overbred in the past.

Paris watched other dogs passing by her kennel but didn’t show any interest in them. She seemed reserved.

However, everything changed when she met one of the Pit Bull puppies who was recently rescued and brought to the shelter.

Paris’s reaction to the puppy was absolutely heartbreaking.

Comforting A Crying Puppy

The staff placed one of the furbabies, named Bruce Willis, in the shelter kennel next to Paris.

Once the puppy found himself all alone, he missed his littermates. He started crying inconsolably, wishing to reunite with them.

When Paris heard the puppy sobbing, her heart broke for him.

Her motherly instinct kicked in, and she dashed to the kennel door, pushing her face against the opening and desperately trying to reach him.

Paris couldn’t even see the puppy as she pressed against the kennel bars, but she knew that he needed love and comfort.

Bruce Willis couldn’t see her either, but feeling her presence was enough, and the puppy felt much better.

“You can even see the puppy (Bruce Willis) lean up against the kennel to be with her,” the shelter wrote on Instagram.

The shelter staff felt heartbroken as they witnessed the harrowing scene of two lonely souls trying to reach for each other.

Although they hadn’t tested how Paris got along with other dogs, they decided to introduce her to Bruce Willis. Seeing how compassionate the doggo was, they were certain that they would get along.

And, they were right! Paris and Bruce Willis were thrilled to meet, and they hit it off right away. They kept smiling and playing with each other.

The two pups formed a strong bond and became best friends. They enjoyed spending time together until they were placed in foster homes.

Looking For Someone To Give Her A Chance

Unfortunately, Paris’s foster family returned her to the shelter after less than two weeks.

“[While] she is great overnight and absolutely loves human interaction … [she] does seem to pace around the house, and [her foster mom] has said, ‘It almost seems like, because she has been a [mama], she looks for her babies,’” Alex Charalambous at Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter told The Dodo.

Upon returning to the New Work shelter, the mama dog looked after the shelter puppies, offering them her love. She met Bruce Willis’ brother and struck up a friendship with him.

As much as Paris enjoys showering the furbabies with love, the staff knows that a loving home is what she truly needs.

While the doggo waits for someone who will give her the forever home she deserves, her shelter friends will continue doting on her and giving her love.
