Rescuers Save Limping Chihuahua Mix From Desert Road, Only To Be Shocked By X-Ray Results

Sometimes, you embark on a rescue mission to save one dog and end up rescuing an entirely different four-legged furball instead. That’s exactly what happened when California rescuers spotted Prince, a teeny-tiny Chihuahua mix!

He was all alone, limping and struggling on the side of a desert road. Prince was literally crying for help, with his posture defeated and a silent plea that could be easily seen in his eyes.

The rescuers immediately scooped him up and tried to help him. What they didn’t know at the time was that his limping was due to a serious issue they were about to discover.

He Was In Far Worse Condition Than They Thought

The kind team of rescuers from The Animal Rescue Center Of California was on their way to Thermal. Their mission was to locate a stray German Shepherd who was reported roaming the area.

However, the dog was nowhere to be found.

“We were looking for a stray German Shepherd in Thermal who was nowhere to be found,” the rescue wrote in their video.

Instead, they spotted Prince

What a truly devastating sight that was! A pup, no more than twelve pounds, looked completely defeated. He was so thin, scared, and malnourished.

The team offered him some food and showered him with kind words. However, they soon realized that Prince was not only roaming the road – he was looking for help. He was in serious pain and his leg was in bad condition.

After picking him up from the road, his caregivers first took him to the animal hospital for further checkups. Then, a real shock unfolded! It turns out his injury was far worse than his rescuers expected.

Prince’s X-rays showed that he had a broken femur.

“He was limping from a broken femur. He was in pain and needed surgery,” the Center added.

His situation was urgent and required surgery, which was Prince’s one shot at potential happiness! After being subjected to the procedure, the vet team decided to keep him in the hospital for physical therapy.

The good news was – the surgery went well!

He stayed at the hospital for another two weeks until the vets confirmed that he was ready for his “gradual adaptation” to a normal life. And, just like that, Prince was back with his rescuers.

Prince Hopes To Be ‘The Prince Of His New Home’

Although still not fully recovered and at his prime, this resilient boi has already shown everyone how genuinely cute he is.

He’s a happy-go-lucky Chi mix who enjoys walks and daily outings with his furry friends. On top of that, Prince just loves belly rubs!

For a dog found on the street with no social skills, he’s not anti-social either. Quite the contrary!

Prince will be staying with his caregivers until the phone rings!

What he truly wants to find is a loving forever home and people who will love him with all their hearts. He definitely hopes to be the prince of his new home and display his true colors. And, that’s certainly what he deserves!
