The job of a dog rescuer never ends. Once you fall in love with these four-legged furballs, you’re dedicated to saving their lives forever! Even if that means engaging yourself in some of the most heartbreaking rescues, you just never quit.
For California animal control officer, Rudy Pina, this is the motto he lives by. Being a long-time rescuer, he witnessed some really shocking scenes, including dogs being abandoned in the most unexpected places.
One day, he received a call from the local motel in Fresno. While doing their daily rounds, a housekeeper stumbled upon the least expected surprise hiding in one of the rooms – a puppy!
Hiding Behind A Bed
No one exactly knows how long this cute, innocent-looking Pittie pup stayed in the room. He was clearly abandoned by his owner and patiently waited there for his hooman to come back.
Sadly, that never happened, and he remained stuck between two beds in a room with no food or water.
When Pina finally arrived at the spot, the pup cautiously peeked from behind the bed. Seeing an unknown man approaching him, he quickly hid under it in fear. But then, as Pina called him in the most gentle manner, he slowly warmed up, realizing that he was about to be saved.
It took the pup only a few moments to completely relax around Pina. In no time, he even rolled on his back and demanded belly rubs, as the two have been best buds since always.
Pina and the abandoned pup spent some time getting to know each other through the sweetest cuddles. Then, the officer scooped him up and placed him in the kennel in the back of his car.

Looking For A Home To Call His Own
The pup and his rescuer were on their way to Fresno Animal Center, and their very first ride ever was – spectacular!
Even though he was initially placed in a kennel, the pup eventually found himself riding in the passenger seat! The two really bonded with each other, and Pina wanted the pup to feel as relaxed and comfy as possible.
When they finally arrived at the rescue, the puppy was provided with much-needed care.
Pina describes the motel Pittie as a super friendly and happy-go-lucky dog.
“Puppy abandoned at Motel6 on Blackstone in Fresno. Super handsome VERY friendly Pitty. He is currently at the @Fresno Animal Center waiting for his forever home,” Pina wrote on his TikTok.
Until someone reaches out to adopt or foster, the puppy will be receiving care in the facility. However, given his pawdorable personality and just the sweetest character, this little boy definitely doesn’t deserve to spend time at the shelter.
“Please reach out to the shelter if you are interested in fostering, adopting or know a rescue! He is a young pup and doesn’t deserve to grow up at the shelter,” Pina added.
Hopefully, the pup’s adopters are just around the corner, ready to give him the best home possible!
