One thing about living in the suburbs is that life can be really predictable and ordinary, while other times, it’s shocking and surprising, but in a fun way.
As someone who lived in the suburbs for a long time, I have to say that it was quite the experience. Being an animal lover myself, I used to run into strays all the time.
I tried helping them whenever I could and many of them would often come back. It felt good knowing that these animals felt safe in my presence.
That’s why I always thought it was important to help any animal we can, in any way we can. When these homeowners from California first heard a strange noise outside, they decided to investigate it. What they discovered shocked them completely.
It’s A What?!

After going outside, the homeowners went to the pool where the noise was coming from. Upon looking down at it, they saw a black feathered animal in their pool’s reservoir.
It was clearly a crow that was injured and got stuck there. One of the homeowners, Valerie, said in her video: “Guys, these birds are going nuts. Their friend is in our pool. They’re trying to get us to save their friend.”
They were surprised by the crows who were making such loud noises for their friend who was stuck. I honestly didn’t think they would even care.
Valerie and her husband immediately got to work. Her husband took a rake and tried to scoop the crow from below the water.

Valerie tried to calm the bird down, so she wouldn’t flail around because it would make their efforts difficult. Mere seconds later, they were able to get him out.
The rescue was successful and the crow was now finally on dry land. The California homeowners were hoping that she would dry off and leave.
However, that was not the case. The raven was clearly injured and couldn’t fly. Surprisingly, he wasn’t afraid of his rescuers like most birds and he allowed them to help.
He Needed Rehabilitation

After they were sure that he needed medical attention, they placed him under rehabilitation where they did their best to care for him.
Now that he was doing a lot better, his kind rescuers decided to let him go so he could be reunited with his friends.
Upon going outside, they noticed that a couple of crows gathered in the yard and were possibly waiting for their buddy.

They opened the cage and let him fly away. He was ready to live his old life again. His two amazing rescuers were so happy to see him fly away.
This rescue shows us the importance of volunteering and doing our part to always help animals when they need us.
Even if it was just one crow, Valerie and her husband changed his entire life by nourishing him back to health and giving him the chance to fly again. That is really important and it’s an example we should all learn from.
