Florida Homeowner Opened Her Tool Shed And Was Shocked To Realize There Was Something Trapped Inside

A Florida homeowner named Lizette was eager to enjoy working in her garden, completely oblivious to the fact that her plans were about to take a different turn.

While looking for the necessary tools in her garden tool shed, Lizette spotted a mysterious intruder hiding in one of the plastic containers. She was shocked.

After she looked closer, the woman realized that it was a small screech owl who got trapped in the container.

The owl looked exhausted, and Lizette was terribly worried for her well-being. She couldn’t have known for how long she was stuck inside.

All she knew was that she would do anything to save her life.

Rescuer Rushes To Help

Lizette reached out to WILD Florida Rescue in Satellite Beach and asked for their help.

Upon receiving the call, the rescue’s dispatcher notified rescuer Kevin about the urgent situation and sent him to the family address.

As soon as he arrived, he gently removed the owl from the plastic container.

“… Inside the container, there [was] also a pair of [shredded] garden gloves; the poor owl could have been stuck inside the shed for a day or more,” WILD Florida Rescue wrote on Facebook.

The bird was lethargic and dehydrated but luckily she survived the ordeal.

Once the rescuer saved the owl, Lizette told him that she made another shocking discovery and showed him an egg that the owl had laid inside the cabinet.

It became clear that the feathered visitor was only looking for a place to nest before getting stuck in the plastic container.

The kind woman carried the cabinet back inside in order to avoid something similar happening again.

Nursing The Owl To Health

The owl was running out of strength. She needed constant medical care and was transferred to WILD Florida Rescue.

Her caregivers took excellent care of her and she is gradually regaining her strength.

The rescue team believes that she will recover soon. They can’t wait to see her make a new nest.

The rescue asks homeowners to be mindful of the birds and keep their shed doors open for some time so that our feathered friends don’t get trapped.

“Always be conscious of shed doors being left open for periods of time so none of our furry and feathered friends get stuck!!” WILD Florida Rescue wrote.

I hope that the screech owl reaches her full health very soon and returns to the wild.

Huge thanks to Lizette for her quick reaction and to Kevin, from WILD Florida Rescue, for saving the owl’s life.
