Many unfortunate dogs have to go through their hardest life moments alone. Just a little comfort from someone can do wonders for these creatures’ well-being, but many of them don’t have the chance to experience even that.
That is why some of them find solace in objects, most often toys, that have symbolic value. After some time, they become inseparable from them and cannot imagine their life without them, either on the street or in a shelter.
A girl who is studying in Waco, Texas was convinced of this when she saw a dog with its beloved toy in a shelter. This scene moved her so much and it wasn’t hard for her to give this dog and his toy a foster home.
Always With Him
The real reason Brooke Reese, a senior at Baylor University in Texas, decided to start fostering a two-year-old Pit Bull mix named Squishy was because he was high on the euthanasia list. At the time, they thought that he was suffering from cancer and that this was the best solution.
When Brooke brought him home, they couldn’t leave the stuffie named Stitch behind as Squishy created a strong bond with it. Of course, Brooke had no problem with that as it was so cute to her, but she was concerned about the state Stitch was in.
Namely, she noticed that the stuffed toy was very worn and shabby and that its tail was hanging off. That is why she decided to repair it.
Although, at first, it seemed that there was nothing problematic, it was still necessary to find a moment when Stitch was not in Squishy’s arms so that the “surgery” could be performed.
Brooke was eventually successful and the “surgery” finally began.
She wanted this heartwarming scene to be immortalized, so she decided to record everything and share the video with her TikTok followers via the account, @brooke.reese.

In this heart-melting video, Squishy can be seen carefully following his mom’s every move as she fixes every irregularity on his beloved stuffie friend.
After Brooke successfully completes the surgery, Squishy enthusiastically takes Stitch in his teeth and starts playing with him again, all the while grateful to his foster mom for fixing his friend.
It may seem strange to some at first that a dog is so connected to a toy, but if you know Squishy’s backstory, everything is clear. Poor Squishy was found on the street by a good woman, and in those most difficult moments, this dog did not part with his beloved toy.
The strongest friendships are born in the worst life situations. It was the same in this dog’s case.
Many Melted Hearts
When Brooke posted this video on TikTok, she knew it would attract some attention because the previous video about Squishy and his stuffed friend did. However, even she could not believe that it would be to this extent.
