Among many abandonment stories I’ve come across over the years, Nova’s is definitely one of the hardest.
This good boi ended up being thrown away in a dumpster like trash at no fault of his own. Scared, confused, and all alone, he waited for someone to be kind enough to extend him a friendly hand.
But Nova received so much more than just a rescue. He was blessed with a family that continuously reminded his abandoner that Nova was now living a great life.
Life Has Been Hard On Nova
When a random passerby stumbled upon Nova in a dumpster, they couldn’t believe their eyes.
Once they removed the tarp that he was covered with, the person discovered a huge, infected wound that left his leg swollen. They immediately transported Nova to the clinic, from where he was taken by the kind PAWS Chicago team.
Sadly, his leg couldn’t be saved, and Nova ended up being a three-legged boi.
“Nova was found in a dumpster with a large, severely infected wound. The infection has done so much damage that he would need an amputation before his body went into sepsis,” PAWS Chicago stated in an Instagram post.
On top of all that, he had many scars and cuts all over his body, indicating that he had been severely abused and neglected in the past. But even that didn’t stop Nova from choosing to be all happy and enthusiastic about life!
“His first day post-op, Nova was already hamming it up. This little trooper was launching himself into laps, jumping up for pets, throwing his toys around, and scarfing down food,” the rescue added.
Thanks to his wonderful personality, Nova soon found a forever family alongside his buddy, Omar.
In no time, he and Omar were in a new home, defying all the odds and embarking upon a brand-new life journey.
Message For Nova’s Previous Owner
Since the moment Nova was adopted, life has been nothing but sweet for him. He and Omar clung to each other most of the time, and his owners kept reassuring him that from now on, nothing bad would happen.
They even posted a series of Nova’s update videos, sending messages to his previous owners.
In one of the videos, his owners showed that this “dumpster dog” now has a brand-new doggo bed, and even a matching quilt for it.

“Dad bought me a matching quilt for my own bed,” the message says.
Nova doesn’t miss a single thing in his life now. And, even though he had been through a lot, his momma and dad make sure to make life for him as sweet as possible.
Sometimes, this can be quite a challenge, especially given that Nova is now a special-needs dog. He struggles with walking, climbing on the couch, and many other things, but he never gives up.
And, his owners don’t give up, too!
Recently, Nova visited the beach for the first time since arriving at his new home.
In one of the last videos his owners posted on TikTok, they sent one more message to Nova’s abandoner, saying:
“To whoever put me in a dumpster to be thrown away, guess what? I’m discovering the world outside my dumpster is beautiful, and today dad took me to the beach.”
This resilient canine can’t thank his new owners enough for finding him. Now that he has everything he ever dreamed of, there’s only one thing left for him to do – make each and every new day memorable!
