Electrician Was Just Doing His Job When He Suddenly Saw Something Watching Him Near An Abandoned House

There are some true heroes in our communities that operate in a discrete manner. They may not wear capes, but they definitely have the purest hearts.

They spare no time and resources to help those in need, expecting nothing in return. Their biggest satisfaction is seeing smiles on their faces!

Our hero for today is a man from Detroit wearing an electrician workwear uniform. Seeing a pair of helpless eyes staring at him from the back yard of an abandoned house, he knew that something was not right. So, he immediately rushed into action!

A Selfless Mission

A DTE electrician named Marc was working at an abandoned house in the neighborhood when he spotted two furry faces staring at him. As they were still pretty far from him, he decided to step a little closer.

When he finally got a proper distance, he saw a bonded pair of puppies sitting in the back yard. One seemed to be injured, but both were evidently thin and malnourished for their age.

Marc slowly approached them in the attempt to gain their trust. However, both dogs seemed really scared. Despite the fact that he wanted to help them out, they just kept on keeping a safe distance.

“I normally keep treats on my truck but I ran out…they wanted to trust me but they just weren’t sure,” Marc wrote, commenting on the DPCDR post.

He then contacted Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue, a non-profit organization specializing in helping injured and sick strays get off the streets. Theresa Sumpter, the organization director, responded immediately.

The DPCDR team arrived at the location that same day. Apparently, the dogs were fed by the local kids, but they lived their life on a street without an owner.

“He reported that one of the pups was injured and both were thin. We went to the location and neighbors reported that some kids had been feeding these dogs but that they were strays,” the DPCDR team wrote.

For about half an hour, the pups hesitated and weren’t sure whether to approach Sumpter or not, but eventually, she won them over with some treats. It took a little bit of patience, some sweet talk, and tasty food, but the dogs warmed up to their rescuer.

Recovering Towards A Forever Home

After putting both dogs in a crate, Sumpter took them to the vet hospital for their first checkup. While in a crate and in the hospital, they still seemed pretty shy and reserved, not knowing what to expect.

Sumpter and the team were patient, knowing that it would probably take the dogs (later named Grace and Mercy) some time to acclimate to the new environment.

They probably spent their whole life on the street, far away from what can even remotely be considered as socialization with other living souls.

Then, after two weeks of intense interaction, an amazing thing happened! Both Grace and Mercy transformed into brand-new dogs around their caregivers. They came out of their shells, and they started feeling comfortable around hoomans.

It seems that all it took for these sweet pups to start trusting again was a little bit of love. And, now that they are finally capable of living a completely new life in a home – they both will be available for adoption.

After all the hardship these pups went through, finding a loving family who will show them what life is really all about is something that they truly deserve! And, we hope that happens soon!
