If there is one thing that always upsets me, it’s reading about pups who are supposed to be euthanized because the shelter can’t find a forever home.
What makes it even more heartbreaking is the fact that most shelters try their best to take in dogs, but they can’t care for all of them, which is why this is an option.
It’s tragic knowing that you have helped a pup only to later have to euthanize him because he wasn’t the right fit for anybody.
Still, it’s not all doom and gloom. There are some fortunate stories, and the one we will be talking about today is just amazing.
She Was Just In Time
After Kelsey reached out to a shelter in California to see if there was any puppy in need, she was shocked to learn that there were three puppies waiting for euthanasia.
She quickly rushed to the shelter to save them. There was only one day left before they were going to be euthanized.
Kelsey couldn’t resist these puppies. They were so adorable, so she took all three of them home immediately.
She was completely surprised to see just how shut down they were. They weren’t in the mood for anything and Kelsey tried what she could to make them feel better.
Kelsey noticed that Nash was in the worst condition out of all of them. She has no idea what they had been through in the past, but she wanted to help them.
Luckily the other dogs, Noah and Novo, found forever homes pretty soon. As for Nash, he stayed with Kelsey.
McDonough Rescue
With time and care, Nash transformed completely into a cheerful and playful dog. It’s like he suddenly just came out of his shell.
This made Kelsey very happy because she tried her hardest to make him feel good. She noted that she healed Nash, only for Nash to heal her.
The two of them were going to stay together, that was for sure. Some time went by and their life was amazing. Nash had changed completely.
Shortly after this, Kelsey thought about helping more dogs from shelters in California, so she started out small.
She would mostly spend time talking to them outside of their kennel and she realized that she wanted to do this all the time.
That’s how the McDonough Rescue came to life. In her time helping dogs, she has saved 25 pups and that’s an incredible achievement.
It’s really beautiful to see how Nash has had such a tremendous impact on his owner, to the point that she decided to work as a dog rescuer.
Thanks to both of them, so many pups are now getting a second chance at life and I think that’s just beautiful.
