You never know when you’re about to meet the person who will completely change your life. And when that moment finally arrives, you just know that everything is going to be better.
For Roo, the black, abandoned doggo girl, that person was Katie!
She came at just the perfect moment to tell her that she’s special. That she, indeed, deserves a second chance, even though all the odds were stacked against her…
She Had A Rough Past
Abandoned in the Georgia summer heat, Roo desperately waited for help on the side of the road. She was tied to a bench by her previous owners and left without absolutely nothing except a small bowl of water.
When people finally noticed her, she was overheating and only moments away from fainting.
The next thing she knew was being put in a small kennel in Cobb County Animal Shelter, Georgia, alongside dozens of other homeless dogs. Never being in a shelter before, Roo was utterly shocked by loud noises and barks coming from the other kennels.
“Roo was terrified, to the point where the shelter had to give her medications in hopes to keep her sedated and calm,” Katie wrote on TikTok.
Enter – Katie!
Upon hearing Roo’s devastating story, the owner of Total Focus Canine Academy couldn’t help but visit Roo as soon as possible to cheer her up. Instead, she unexpectedly fell head over heels for her!
“I went into the shelter that day to hopefully share some light on her heartbreaking story in hopes she would be adopted. Her eyes spoke so much to me. I had been going through an extremely low point in my life. I saw myself in her eyes. I didn’t realize how much we needed each other,” Katie stated in a TikTok post.
It was love at first sight, and Katie knew it. Something deep inside Roo’s eyes told Katie that she was meant to go home with her.
The two found the ultimate comfort with each other, and even though it was their very first meeting, they felt so at peace next to each other.
As soon as the two had a little moment outside the kennel, it was resolved. This fearful but gentle canine girl just got herself a forever hooman!
Finally, A Safe Haven
For the first time in what seemed like forever, Roo had a nice, cozy home, and she could finally fall asleep without having to be on alert.
After getting a nice, long bath and delicious snacks, Roo knew – this was home. She settled in Katie’s house so nicely and, after only a week, became the sweetest, kindest lovebug.
She enjoyed every single second of her time spent next to her new momma. The two watched TV shows together, had delicious popsicles, went for exciting city strolls, and enjoyed the coziest cuddle sessions on the couch. All that in just a short amount of time.
Just like that, completely out of the blue, Roo got everything she could ever ask for. And, Katie finally got a friend for life, and more! In Roo, she had a companion who was always there to lend a shoulder to cry on.
“I didn’t know how much I needed Roo. I needed her, just as much as she needed me,” wrote Katie.
Today, Katie and Roo seize every opportunity to have the time of their lives. They take on many exciting adventures together, making each and every day memorable.
Roo’s bad days are now behind her. She never, ever has to worry about being abandoned anymore, or having to cope with the shelter life.
