Woman Fights To Save Dog Injured In Car Accident, Ends Up Receiving Devastating News

When I think of all the heartbreaking outcomes in dog rescue missions, I just think to myself: Boy, you’ve got to give those kind-hearted volunteers credit!

They witness devastating scenes daily and yet still manage to continue their kind work.

Suzette Hall, a long-time rescuer from California, definitely knows this feeling! In the vast sea of heartbreaks she has witnessed so far, she always finds strength in her heart to do more for dogs in need.

However, some days are just meant to be forgotten.

This was one of them…

He Cried The Whole Time

When Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy in Irvine, California, received a call about Nesquik, a tiny dog hit by a car, she frantically rushed to the scene.

What she found there was truly heartbreaking.

“He was hit by a car and the lady kept going. He rolled 7 times. When I picked him up I held him in my lap and he cried the whole way to my vet,” Hall wrote on Facebook.

Knowing how important it was to act promptly, and despite all the shock, she rushed Nesquik straight to the hospital.

The diagnosis, however, wasn’t promising. This tiny little pooch had a broken pelvis and was suffering a great deal of pain. He was immediately put on IV and pain meds, but what he really needed was surgery.

Hall and her team waited a few days to see how Nesquik would respond to treatment. Then, a few days later, a glimmer of hope emerged.

Nesquik finally gathered enough strength to get up and sit. He ate well, and most importantly, he felt pinching in his legs, indicating that he was not paralyzed after all.

“His swelling has come down. He has been on fluids and anti-inflammatories. He is able to sit up now. This sweet baby will have his surgery Friday morning. We believe in miracles,” Hall wrote in one of her last Facebook posts.

Little did she and the vet team know that heartbreak was just around the corner.

Heartbreaking Outcome

Even though the team succeeded in repairing Nesquik’s pelvis, his tiny little body, sadly, he didn’t respond well to the surgery. The infection took over all his organs, and given all the trauma he suffered, there was no way to recover from that.

“We were able to repair his shattered pelvis and all the damage the car did to his body, but the infection was more than medicine could treat,” Hall stated.

After doing everything possible to save his life, Nesquik didn’t make it after all. His condition was far worse than anyone could have imagined.

He crossed the rainbow bridge, leaving absolutely everyone in tears.

Nesquik’s departure was truly the last straw. He suffered a terrible accident at no fault of his own, losing his precious life when he had so much to live for.

His devastating case serves as a reminder that so many dogs out there live on the edge every day, facing the constant danger of being fatally hurt.

Nesquik left us all shattered, yet his memory will be preserved by his caregivers and all those who cared enough to try to save him.

“We love you. We wanted more for you. We gave all we had for you and your little body said: ‘Enough is Enough.’ Thank you for fighting for it. We will not forget you,” Hall added in the end.

Rest in peace, little boi. You will remain in our hearts!
